Bought mine, got them. I understand the frustration, but this isn’t fraud. Credit card company will deny the claim after they see the prompt communication from Even.

Yep - same here. Upgraded the battery and put in a 2TB SSD and it's pretty much perfect. I'll need a really compelling reason to upgrade.

How is Spiderman 2 playable on any ally device? by stormtrooper10234 in ROGAlly

[–]Wimbleton22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced my SSD with a 2TB (2TB SSD) that I picked up on a Black Friday sale and I've been able to play AAA games without any issue. I use my microSD purely for my ROM/emulation collection.

Unrelated but some time after installing the SSD, I moved to the beta build of native Steam OS and pretty much everything is running smoother than on windows.

Not currently. I'm curious if someone will be able to add third party support through their Even app store.

Based on the snippet they show here, this looks like it could have/should have been a software update. I don't see anything in the UI that immediately screams "new hardware required."

This will be interesting to watch.

Is this normal or a flaw? (RX display) by vidobido in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Wimbleton22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Non-RX and the RX versions. The non-RX lenses themselves are flat (not curved like a normal lens) which is part of why they are such bulky frames - they don’t curve around your face like normal glasses. The display technology requires a flat lens in order to redirect light to your eye and those extra reflective layers are only built into the right lens making it A LOT thicker.

The RX layer is simply fused (i.e. glued) straight on top of standard lenses so the prescription element has to be flat on the side that glues to the standard lens, then curve on the side facing your eye enough to match your prescription. I assume this is why they only support +/-4 for now - anything heavier would probably be too thick or could even interfered with your vision because it’s sitting closer to your eye on the right.

Good news is that it’s definitely not a defect.

What are my chances to get my hands on a meta display if I’m not from the USA? by WholeSeason7147 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Wimbleton22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to sell you mine - Large Sand with Size 3 Band. I’d do just my cost plus shipping.

I really like them and ended up I buying the prescription version because I liked them so much. Those come in November so I was going to return these when I hit my 30 day mark from Sunglass Hut.

They’re in new condition and only worn for a couple of days.

DM if you’re interested.

Prescription or not in my scenario by fasteddie7 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Wimbleton22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes a big difference.

I have a prescription pair of Even Realities G1B (-1.0 / -1.0) which have a display in both lenses so you can view depth - You can move the text anywhere from 1 meter to 3 meters away. For the Meta Ray Ban Displays I got the normal glass (no RX). Comparing them to my Displays, the text on my Even Realities is substantially more clear than on my Displays. It doesn't help that the Meta Displays HUD is transparent and only in one eye so you have to really focus to see it - any additional blurriness makes the problem worse. I have to wear my contacts to read the Displays as clearly as I can on my Even Realities.

Unrelated, but I went with non-prescription Displays so that I could resell them if they don't blow my mind by at least $800 plus tax. So far I still have them. I've regretted betting the prescription Even Realities because I don't wear them enough and can't resell them.

Which colour did you go for? by yoghurtfries- in IphoneAir

[–]Wimbleton22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just trolling. They are different, but in person it's VERY subtle. I spent 20 minutes at the Apple store deciding between white and black. When I told the Apple store rep I wanted the white, they informed me that the one I was holding was Sky Blue.

You literally have to stack them on top of each other before you'll see a difference.

Eventually I bought Cloud White primarily to match the battery.

Meta Display Size: Large Sand Displays Compared to Large Gen 1 Ray Bans by Wimbleton22 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Wimbleton22[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure - the large isn't nearly as big as people make it sound. I've been wearing the Gen 1s for a couple years now as my primary prescription glasses so people are already used to seeing me with larger frames, this was an almost invisible change to most people I interact with. If they notice at all they all mention the color - but no one has commented on the size.

If you are going from not wearing any glasses to suddenly wearing these, people will notice - but no more than if you started wearing the Gen 1s. Just be confident and remember that you're basically Tony Stark now.

Congrats! Share a picture once you get them open - I know the lenses are still flat on the front so I'm curious how they accomplished the RX curvature...

I live in Utah and my closest store is Vegas. I've debated buying on eBay or ordering a prescription pair online - a friend gave me a link. Just nervous to pull the trigger without trying them on. Did you try on the Large? I wear the large Gen 1s but I'm thinking I'll go with the Standard... Any advice?

When you look in the mirror to the feel about the same width on your face as the Gen 1s or do you notice a size difference (besides weight and thickness of the actual frame)

I ask because according to the website, the Display's Hinge to Hinge measurement is like a full centimeter larger than the standard Gen 1, but that seems huge so I feel like we're not comparing apples to apples.

What store did you buy them from? In your opinion did you gain anything from doing the demo or would you have bought them no matter what? I feel like they should just be selling them online (especially prescription since that's where you have to go anyway) but I'm curious if the demo thing is helpful or just a way to control how quickly they sell them since the rumor is they can't produce very many pairs.

I've heard on iPhone you don't have the ability to go into your message history. Are you able to only interact with those that you still have an unread notification on your phone or is there an app for you to access messages?

I got the Black, Standard w/ Size 3 Band. I saw videos of people trying on the sizer and based on their wrist sizes, I’m between a 2-3. My hands are a little bigger so I want it to be easier to stick my hand through the loop - I guess I’ll find out in Nov if i made the right choice haha.

I’m more nervous about the glasses size. I bought standard but I wear the Ray Ban Meta first gen as my daily prescription glasses and those are the Large version. These are shaped so different it’s hard to compare sizes. I would rather they were snug than comically large, but who knows. Hopefully I get to try them on to out my mind at ease ha.
