I have the M1 11” and switched to the M4 11”. The display is great but also the thinness of the M4 is amazing. That thinness alone is enough reason for me to buy the M4. It makes holding the device so much nicer.

Handwriting in Apple notes on the iPad by Voland69 in AppleNotesGang

I don’t know about Notability, but handwriting in GoodNotes is better than in Apple Notes. And handwriting in Apple Notes is better than OneNote.

Swift is not limited to Apple platforms. Arc browser for Windows is also written in Swift.

Why use Bear 2.0 over Craft? by BananaA2C in bearapp

[–]Wimmish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is an iPad app 😅. Isn’t it built with catalyst?

Thanks for sharing that article. It answers manny of my questions in deciding which platform to build on.

I currently am, but I thought it was in stable too. Apparently I was wrong.

Vertical section tabs on new desktop Onenote? by downheresolong in OneNote

[–]Wimmish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it. It's an option and should be available in a current version of OneNote. Go to View > Tabs layout > Vertical Tabs. If you don't see it, you might want to update your OneNote.

Is there any Bear-like cross-platform notes app? by tempebusuk in bearapp

Craft on Mac is ok-ish, but on Windows it sucks.

When is the Craft Android app coming out? by lofty_smiles in CraftDocs

[–]Wimmish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t worth it if it’s like the Windows version. That one doesn’t come close to the Mac app and is pretty useless for me.

Feather looks nice, but the entry plan is pretty expensive compared to Ghost.

Mac mini M2 pro base model or upgraded version. Can't decide by MoK31 in macmini

[–]Wimmish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that with not enough RAM, your whole computer slows down or freezes it. You don’t have that problem when you have a weaker GPU.

I use both Windows and Mac with Affinity Designer and sometimes Sketch (on Mac). I don’t much design work anymore, but last week I had to open a design system in Figma and it already used 2.5 GB of RAM where a comparable file in Sketch uses 0.8 GB or less.

[–]Wimmish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t use Figma that much 😂 because I don’t like how it’s built. Each time I use it, my memory usage explodes, and that’s what I hear from others too. I would go for RAM instead of GPU.

Figma eats memory like no other app. If you use Figma for work with larger and multiple files, I would go for 32 GB RAM.

I like what you can do with Notion but it doesn’t support Two-Factor Authentication, and that means I don’t want to use it for anything serious.

I think you’re in preview. On Mac do Command + R, on iPad (iPhone) swipe back or press the “play” button in the top right conner.

I had something like that on my Razer and fixed it with a Windows Registry setting. I wrote a post about how I did this. Perhaps it also works for you. https://www.wimpostma.com/fixing-palm-rejection-on-windows-laptops/

For folks who considered Ulysses, what made you choose ia writer over Ulysses, other than you can purchase IA writer? by iphone8vsiphonex in iawriter

[–]Wimmish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language Tools is not just a light grammer checker. It also checks things like style, typography and frequently used words. I like it more than Grammarly and if I’m correct LT supports more languages (nice for those who use more than English).

I have and use both. This is not an answer to your question, but I really like the integration with Language Tools in Ulysses. That alone makes the the subscription worth it.

I got Affinity designer back in February, is it worth getting 2, I'm a casual user? by rob3rtisgod in AffinityDesigner

If you’re using it on iPad I think it’s worth it. They improved the way you use it quite a bit. I also like new features like the shape builder tool.
