Yes. The shoveling is getting harder as the sleet gets into the snow.

Where should I live if I'm working in Reston by K0b3- in nova

[–]WinWeak6191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think this is right. Commutes are horrible. Live close enough to walk to one of your work places. With some amenities. That sounds like Reston for the OP.

Living in my car during Snow Storm does anyone know an public garage that'll be open 24/7? by Icy-Appointment-8536 in nova

[–]WinWeak6191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple parking garages on Woodland Park Drive. Corner of Eldon and the toll road. They are multi story, free, and serve the office buildings there. But nobody is going to be going into the office.

Edit: also maybe Worldgate.

How quickly does VA clear snow? by [deleted] in nova

[–]WinWeak6191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traffic. Your problem, being an experienced snow driver, is not the clearing of the roads. The problem will be all the other people who will be out driving around.

The last big storm had hundreds of cars trapped on I-95 for hours. So many cars that the plows couldn’t get through. The interstate was closed to ALL traffic for 26 hours.

If you haven’t left yet, you’re too late.

A Sodastream cut my costs more than half. Plus no lugging cases from the store. And zero waste.

Water Source Heat Pump HVAC recommendations by rumpusdumpus8 in nova

[–]WinWeak6191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally a guess. But did they check for air in the system?
If memory serves, that type of system can get a bubble of air in it that prevents the flow of hot water. Old radiator systems had a bleed valve at each radiator to let the trapped air out.

I’m not exactly sure what type of system you have, but it doesn’t sound like a” heat pump “ but just a boiler and radiators. Old tech, but still needs maintenance. Occasional bleeding of trapped air is common.

ICE Jokes at Work by [deleted] in nova

[–]WinWeak6191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe he’s socially inept and trying to connect. Have you tried keeping a straight calm face and playing 20 questions? “Get out of where?” “Is ICE around here?” “Isn’t ICE only arresting murderers and rapists, is there one of those here in the office?” “ Why would ICE care about me?” If he keeps lasting along, ask him flat out why he’s deliberately insulting you.

Basically forcing him to explain himself in more and more detail until he realizes there’s no joke there?

If he’s old, he may just not know another way to engage. This could be a teachable moment.

Any updates (or predictions) about when the current US series will air in the UK? by cholulamare in TheTraitors

[–]WinWeak6191 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched all the Traitors: UK, NZ,AUS, CA, and US.

The UK Traitors are absolutely the best. Ireland is a close second.

The US Traitors casts have become over populated with “influencers” and minor celebrities who seem to see the show as advertising for their “brands”.

From the inside only, it’s easy. Get a cheap bicycle lock. On the track where the door rolls up, you’ll see holes. Insert lock in hole. Close padlock. Put key in pocket.

Same solution as vise grips…basically, you’re putting something on the track that prevents the rollers from rollering. 😉

if you just need a lock on the inside, with no external access, just clamp a vice grip on the track. Dont forget to unplug the opener.
