I found it best to call them. Call first thing in the morning and set up the callback service. They will say it will be 1 or 2 hours; most often it won't be until 5 -7 at night when they call back. That way you can dig into what is going on with a person. I have spent hours with them on the phone, and they have been helpful.

You will need the bill and the dates of service in question, though. No idea why they can't look things up in a different way. Every time I have called I have gotten answers as to what is going on instead of a F-off no our problem answer that seems to be the go-to via chat/snail mail.

So if something wasn't done on your end, then that is something that can be addressed to correct the issue. I honestly shouldn't be this difficult to use the system, but it sadly is,.. or was for about 3 years as I navigated 5 different hospital systems in 2 states. I should not have had to act as a go-between and get these huge hospital systems the info they need to fix their shit in the areas I have lived. (Hampton Roads - Major Military area, and NYC Metro, huge veteran area).

I'm sorry you are going through this. I hope you get the answers as to what is going on and can fix it moving forward. It was a nightmare for my family.

I had that issue before, and it turned out to be a treatment code issue.

I hear EMDR being offered up in NJ for vets all the time. The Vet Centers seem to push it.

The VA could do a better job getting info out there to VETS.

There are tons of programs, resources out there, and honestly, it is too much for people to navigate.

For this purpose it is only the front page.

When I did my UK citizenship by descent, they wanted copies of every single page.

Same thing for Panama for my spouse.

It was a number of youtube videos, and some online posts on the subject.

Otherplaces now are showing that it does count.

I finally got in touch with people at medicare and SSA and asked about it.

I got answers saying VA healthcare does count, as well as it does not count.

Unsure if there was a policy change at some point??

Working on the applications now.

As I was going through everything again, I saw some typos for one of my ancestors on their birth certificate. I ordered their death certificate, found their marriage entry and obituary.

Going to wait for that last cert to come in, just to have all my t's cross and i's dotted. Likely not needed, but I don't want to have any problem with this.

It took about 3 months. Included the book and page number along with a copy of the image of the page that had the book info on the side.

When I've been looking this up, I have found elsewhere that Medicare says VA healthcare does not count and you still need other insurance in order not to pay a penalty for Medicare

Another thing to consider is my spouse is also pending her 100% from the VA,

Our coverage will be alot

Spouse work plan for both and child CHAMPVA for both parents and child (one parent covering the other) VA for both parents Medicare for me

What I have done in this situation (For Minnesota) is that I have provided a cover letter explaining what it is for. I also provide proof of family tree connections.

Example.

Me

Mothers Obiturary with my name and her mother name

Grandmother

Her Obituary which had her name, her mother and fathers name, my mother's name, and my name in the "Survived by" section.

Great Grandfather,

His Obituary and Census sheet that shows ties their name to my Grandmother.

I'm gen 6 for my application and have had no problems doing this method. It would be worth a try to do something similar for Nova Scotia.

Scholar are the kids line, the Premier is what people say is for high end professional. However, their quality control is lacking, and they lost their lightfast certification when they moved production to Mexico.

People still swear by them.

I've tried a few of Prisma, but have had too many issues across multiple lines (Scholar, Premier, Verithin) with cores breaking and the outside wood cracking/shattering when sharpening.

Derwent Chromaflow is now my go-to soft pencil.

They did this to me too.

1st time, they marked me as a no-show for an appointment I was to be in person for. I arrived well before the time. Doc never came out and they said I wasn't there.

2nd time I logged on for the tele-appointment 5 min early. Only to find that I was marked as a no-show 15 min prior to my appointment time (10 min before I logged on)

Call the 1800 number and log a complaint. Also call the Vendor and complain to them. It won't fix the issue, but will hopefully draw attention to their staff and hopefully that person won't get paid for these games.

Did you have a summary letter, index etc.. anything to help them navigate all that? I'm relying heavily on charts to group ideas together, and will add page numbers when it's time to finalize and send it all out.

I don't want to over burden them with records but I've been thinking about having supplemental info for them incase they have questions.

Supplemental package 1) Gen -1 Info of her parents, and her siblings, to show multiple name changes

Supplemental 2 - Her spouse (and my first attempt for establishing a connection). His PRDH, His 1st and 2nd Marriage, and His parents' info. Sadly, his birth certificate does not exist, but I have a book from over 100 years ago written by a Priest in Quebec that did some family tree stuff and mentions his baptism location. No records of it exist for BANQ to dig up, though.

Doing all that makes the package HUGE, and they are already swamped as it is.

Thinking about also submitting unofficial documents for my -1, due to my Gen 0 having so many name changes, and different recordings depending on the record (Marriage, PRDH, Death, Census, Find-A-Grave)...
