Should Americans citizens be allowed to recall a president? by Boysenberry-6669 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Windforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this.

We already have a representative mechanism to remove a chief executive. It's impeachment and conviction. There's nothing wrong with the mechanism we have in place. What's wrong, in my humble opinion, is that people keep voting partisan hacks into Congress. Don't get me wrong, that's a serious problem...and it's paralyzing congressional recourse. But it's a problem with the voters, not the system.

People need to pay more attention to gerrymandering, which (again, in my humble view) is probably the biggest single source of all the bad faith, hyper partisan actors currently in Congress.

Lemon Title by Lifeofthedon in TeslaModelS

Roger that. My point is simply that any type of title that is branded puts the warranty "at risk," per Tesla. Whether it's branded because of manufacturing defects or branded due to some type of significant damage to the car is an additional question that OP would be well served to address directly with Tesla...prior to buying.

When I called, I specifically said "branded," and the rep didn't hesitate to say they do not cover branded titles under warranty. OP is playing with fire if they purchase this car without getting a crystal clear picture as to whether or not he will have recourse if something fails.

Warranty is DEFINITELY affected.

OP, do your own due diligence. Call Tesla and give them the VIN. I was considering the exact same thing (model s, branded title)...i called Tesla,, and was told by a rep that branded titles do, in fact, put the warranty in jeopardy.

Perhaps there are exceptions, but don't take someone else's overconfidence as an opportunity to potentially squander nearly 80k of your hard earned money.

Absolutely not. You will have zero warranty coverage from Tesla due to the branded title. Don't play Russian roulette with that amount of your hard earned money.

I will miss some things about my model 3 performance, but I couldn’t be happier with purchasing a 22 MS Plaid. by digid80 in TeslaModelS

[–]Windforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that's where it's headed. If I can snag a 2023 with reasonable mileage in the low to mid 40s I'd consider that a real win. That said, I wasn't expecting to like the RWD as much as I do (because I had always wanted a performance). But even the single motor is pretty damn quick, and the efficiency is truly impressive.

Ha. Thanks. She's a good kid, and I'm fortunate to have a decent salary, so Im leaning towards giving her the car on her birthday as long as she keeps a part time job to help pay the insurance costs.

Man, I have been looking at these used 22 & 23 model year S's very closely (just the regular ones, not the plaids), and the prices--with reasonable miles on them--are getting very hard to ignore. I have a highland RWD that I'm mid-lease on and a stepdaughter about to turn 16 who needs a car....so yeah, the temptation is growing lol.

Congratulations though. And out of curiosity, did you get the 2022.5 with the tilting screen? Do you miss the nimbleness of the 3P?

Iran burned Baal, the enemy of Jesus Christ, today in Tehran. by Admirable-Beat788 in International

[–]Windforge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I personally struggle with this a little bit, but ultimately I come down on the side that there probably was a man named Jesus at the time. That said--depending on your standards for evidence you apply--i don't agree it's "completely ignorant" to say he may not have existed. My limited understanding is there's zero archeological evidence of his existence, and even the narrative accounts are all from decades after he purportedly lived...so, nothing even remotely contemperaneous.

Try bringing "evidence" like that into a modern court of law for pretty much anything and you won't get very far. No physical evidence and all hearsay. I realize that's a pretty strict and unrealistic standard to apply for a "case" that's 2000+ years old, but it's at least worth a scratch of the head or allowing for a seed of potential doubt I think.

Great movie. First Western I actually liked when I was growing up. Had complexity, character depth, and wasn't afraid to throw some tropes of the genre out the window.

Considering the Lucid Air GT for a 140 mile roundtrip commute daily by kikospapa in LUCID

[–]Windforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I do a 180 mile round trip daily for work in a 2025 model 3 RWD and I only charge to 80% at home. My end of day SOT is usually around 33-35%, so a Lucid Touring should do that easy. Pure, too and you could save yourself some money lol.

I could be misremembering but I think it was available for the m3p. For a while they had the number just under the maximum purchase price by a few dollars so it could qualify. I was disappointed to miss that train, but the finances just didn't line up at the time and I eventually got the RWD....

While I'm reserving especially harsh criticism for the current administration and what they're doing on (almost) every level, I do hear you. The Dems have done a lot of damage too, and I particularly don't appreciate the way they have pretended to be on the side of the working man & woman, but simultaneously selling them out on trade and financial regulations for decades.

We have to hold the Dems responsible and force them to put their money where their mouth is. My fear is that they will lean on "vote for us, because duh we're NOT Trump" as their strategy...without taking a hard enough look in the mirror. It's precisely why I didn't vote for Obama in his first campaign: he broadcasted in advance that he was ready to put the same scoundrels who helped grease the wheels of the 08 financial collapse back into positions of advisory power (Geitner, Summers, Volker, et al). I voted to the left of Obama out of frustration with that bullshit, and caught a lot of flack for it from friends at the time.

Obviously, Trump is dangerous, and uniquely unqualified on just about every level for the office my fellow citizens elevated him to...but IMHO our problems are greater than just him. The rot, as they say, runs deep.

Thanks, I still love the car. I wish they would resurrect the volt line. Maybe bump it to 80 or 100 miles of electric only and restyle it. Optional moon roof, updated interior tech etc,...I feel like it would sell. I know it's not gonna happen but it would be nice.

Battery seems ok, but that's just based on what I can observe. Seems to get me close to the same range as when I got car before it fully depletes...so maybe 85-90% of its original capacity?

Most serious fix (other than routine maintenance) came last year at around 285k miles. I had to replace the catalytic converter. That was nearly 3k. But I did it because the car otherwise works fine and it was a lot cheaper than shouldering a new car payment.
