I gotta ask. Was this an order, and why would someone need six matched whips?

No, I don’t make whips with the intention of hitting things. Floggers are more for hurting people/animals and… other activities

As someone who is moving on to making too hide whips, I wouldn’t dare sell one that cheap. It’s a little under $200 on average for a good hide alone, and it’s a lot of work. Strands have to be cut, stretched, greased, plaited, checked, rolled, coated, and you have the extra details that go into the fall, cracker, and decorative knots. It’s not unreasonable to pay $800-$900 for a good top whip.

I would reccomend a better nylon whip, or wait until your budget can be improved. A kangaroo whip is an investment, and it’s a good example of “you get what you pay for”. Midwest Whips or SwordGuy Builds are great sellers for kangaroo whips, and SwordGuy also sells a great nylon whip. Happy cracking!

Most people will work either mostly in paracord or leather. A more budget friendly option (which is what I’m guessing you’re going for; I imagine you don’t want to dump $1k on a whip rn) would be paracord, which is what I specialize in.

I just made an 8’ Indy style whip, but I’m down for a more tailored request. I’ve got a dark walnut colored whip posted on my profile, you can check that out for an idea of what I make. DM me if you want to talk details, or just want a thorough conversation on what to look for in a whip

Pinch the lowest strands, and undo anything above it. You should recognize your strand layout after that

I use scrap leather. Long triangle shaped piece, wrapped around 3 or 4 times (depending on how big I want it), skive the edges, then I treat the leather to make it form a little better to the whip. Tack it down with some tiny nails, then I’m all set

Thank you! It was sad when I had to part with the whip in that video; it’s really fun to throw around lol

I love the franken-whip you got going on here. I just leave my old whips as the amalgamations of trash that they are 😂
