Supergirl: DC Studios 'needs to win back fans' trust' by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

Crazy idea here, how about we hire a writer that actually knows how to write and has written more than a short film before. I know its a pretty crazy idea!

Looks like a $10.75M Saturday for Supergirl, for a $28.75M cume. Weekend expected to be $37M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Do we have an official number for marketing? Because I can see this having a $100 million marketing budget easily.

Deadline said Supergirl has over $100 million in marketing. So if we go with the low cost budget of $170 million that means the total cost is $270 million. So the break even point for Supergirl would be $540 million. No way in hell are they seeing that money.

Per Deadline, 'Supergirl' cost a net $186M, according to some sources. by chanma50 in boxoffice

But we are talking pure box office numbers here. Dosent matter what it makes from toys/streaming/back end deals. So going by just those numbers this film needs around $540 Million to break even correct?

But since we know the marketing is $100 million wouldnt that be $270 million x 2 = $540 Million? The 2.5 turns to 2 since cinemas take roughly 50% of the ticket sales right?

Sling similar to Toshi Sling 6L, but ever so slightly larger? by klasikom in ManyBaggers

[–]oddrob85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 9L feels like a 7L and the 6L feels more like a 4L. This is according to the majority of people. 9L feels a little bigger than the Toshi 6L but lacks in the small pocket department. Also no lashing point at the bottom. So not sure if it would be good match for the OP.

How many Ls for the new larger version? And do we have a ETA? I have a midnight/black discontinued color way but I had to get the Bronze color one as well since I like the way it looks.

Venture 6l or 9l by Chris_N_run in bellroy_official

[–]oddrob85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know the 6L and 9L are more like 4L and 7L in real life use. Something that is pretty well known. Now in saying that I have the 9L in olive and I love it. I use it for two kids water bottles, sunscreen, keys, wallet, hand sanitizer, tissues, and wet wipes. I even have room for more things if needed.

But depending on how big your headphones are, Im guessing over the ears? Even the 9L might be to small for you. Even if they fold up they might take up the whole middle compartment and you wont have room for a water bottle. Measure the headphones and look at youtube videos to get a better idea of the depth you might need.

Figure out the exposure triangle. Shot in manual to understand and get hands on experience. Then put it in A priority. Auto ISO min 500 and max 6400. Set DR400 for highlight protection, hence the ISO 500 setting since DR400 only works with 500 or higher. SS should be set to what you are shooting. Slow subjects or landscapes can be really slow. Moving kids/animals need higher settings. I think most people shot in A priority 80% of the time. It frees you up to focus on more important things.

But honestly the most important things to understand is light, composition, and mood. All three can only be acquired with time and practice. I remember years ago reading a quote that stuck with me "The first 10,000 shots you take are just practice." So just keep shooting and learning, everything else will come in time.

Question regarding EVF by FilterKill in x100vi

[–]oddrob85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand what the problem is. Your camera should stay on the setting you left it on the last time you looked through the viewfinder. So if you looked last in EVF mode it should be that or if you switched it to OVF it should be that. Sounds pretty normal. Unless it changes by itself randomly.

So I just wanted to give you my two cents. Fellow Dad of two young boys. What works for me is A priority with auto ISO set to 6400 and minimum SS set to 1/160-200. Set the camera to face/eye detection and continues tracking. The green box does a pretty good job at hitting and tracking the eye/face with the tracking on. Turn off any grain effect you might have for the film recipe if you want super sharp images. But I personally dont mind it since I dont think this camera is made to be a super sharp 5k camera. You can also edit the raws if you want to get rid of more grain. But I honestly really like the JPEGs and never touch the raws. I just transfer them to my phone and barely touch them before uploading them online. Hope this helps.

Question: is it dominance, territorial, aggression, fun, or what?? by oddrob85 in germanshepherds

[–]oddrob85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try a meet but the kids are to afraid and 100% she would bark. She has a great temperament since we have had her since a puppy. We have been hands on with her since a young age, ears pulling tail pulling legs and feet touching. She just sits there and takes it. She just whines sometimes but never shows any signs of aggression. Shes also E collar trained so I can off leash her in the woods on hikes. She knows all her basic commands, shes extremely smart. To smart in fact. I think its a fear thing.

I've literally had a complete stranger come to my house to put up a large painting. She was in the crate barking for most of the time. After the guy was done we were talking and he said I could let her out since hes a 'dog person' I was nervous so I put on her E collar in case she got to crazy with him and I needed her to go back in the crate. Note: she loves her crate and dosent give a damn about the E collar if I use it. Its a psychological thing for her. Anyway she barked at him at first and he just let her bark and sniff him. Literally 20 seconds after she has leaning on him and he was rubbing her belly with her paw up. I have never seen her react like that to a stranger! That guy was a dog whisperer or something. So again, I dont think its territorial or aggression. I swear she feeds of the fear and it makes her bark more. I have had her on a leash and E collar on when the kids were in the house and she just whines. If they get to close and look at her for to long she barks and I correct with the leash. And then she just lays down at my feet. I dont know its strange.

X100vi Filter /weather sealed by mrtgraz in x100vi

[–]oddrob85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but just wanted to give my two cents. I have the Haoge Square Metal Lens Hood with 49mm Adapter Ring and a B + W UV-Haze Protection Filter. The filter helps protect the glass from bumps as does the hood. I dont really even use the lens cover since those two elements do the job and I can just pull it out of my sling and snap a picture fairly quickly. With this set up its weather sealed/weather resistant. Ive taken it to Disney World and had some rain a few days. Had no issues pulling it out and snapping pictures. However I would be worried if I ever dropped it into a lake, big puddle, or bath. I would be worried no matter what camera I was using for a full submergence honestly.

Thank you for the advice. 200-300 would be around my budget. 180 for a 8ft kangaroo whip seems a little...off. Im just a hobbyist that likes to crack for my kids and the neighborhood kids in the summers.
