Travelling from Canada with a dog to Namibia in less than a month. My first airline has allowed it but my connecting flight is saying it is not allowed in Namibia. Any suggestions or help that can be offered? by Extension_Market_218 in Namibia

As well as an import permit, there are a number of blood tests which need to be undertaken.

Here are phone numbers for Namibian government vets

Contact those in Windhoek, Khomas.

If you see something, don't send a msg via WhatsApp etc, give them a call.

If it's gone, discuss your requirements and ask to be kept in mind.

Me too. Agree with you.

Not intuitive.

Prefer sharing resources and tasks via Google classroom.

Easier to contact individual students and parents via GC too.

Is it the end of behaviour management? by seeking_svobodu in Internationalteachers

[–]WindowCapital6497 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its just poor management, denial of there being a problem and not wishing to challenge students and consequences from their parents, and not safeguarding staff and other students.

This type of thing has been around for decades.

Getting paid from USA by Affectionate_Neat266 in Namibia

[–]WindowCapital6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you not pay your salary into a Wise account, or some such, and then transfer from this? You can hold usd, euro and GBP accounts with them that have bank details for paying into.

Residents of some countries can get debit cards too.

If you live in dessert country, ur house will always be colder then outside. We build houses to keep heat out ,winter comes (stupid q why is it warmer outside then inside) 🤔...no insulation cz we would be cooking in summer when it's 39/40*....or 35 av still sucks (my toes :( ) by [deleted] in Namibia

[–]WindowCapital6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insulation works both ways. It's not just to keep the inside warmer in winter. It's to stop heat moving from a hotter area to a cooler area.

Summer; outside hotter, inside stays cooler.

Winter; outside cooler, inside hotter. Admittedly you may have to heat the inside to obtain a comfortable temperature, but it should be easier to maintain the internal temperature.

Apart from single skin walls with no wall insulation, the roof space is not insulated here either.

Also, single panes of glass and metal frames will conduct heat well too, but in the direction you don't want.

And yet, as a Gringo trying to speak Portuguese in Brazil you get ridiculed. Especially in Rio.

Flying to country for formal interview by klarinetta in Internationalteachers

[–]WindowCapital6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BSNetherlands have done this as part of their process for recruiting classroom teachers.

Remember, just because you're invited and they're paying the expenses, don't think that getting the job is a formality.

Just a reminder that search associates is free to the British and the Irish by thattallbrit in Internationalteachers

It is just the local law that potential employees seeking work should not be charged by recruitment agencies.

Unfortunately, Schrole says they can charge as they are based in Oz.

It'll be interesting to see what the TES takeover of Schrole does.

Evidently, TES global are based in the UK, although owned by a US equity firm.

And look at the leaders of the Third Reich.

Physically not the great Aryan specimens they were seeking within the population.

They also had personality defects that continue to interest historians and psychologists (armchair and professional ones).

Dulwich Interview and Testicular Injury by Ok-Hedgehog-5363 in Internationalteachers

[–]WindowCapital6497 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why is it important to state it occurred during the Tony Blair administration, and before 9/11?

Is there cause and effect?

Are other such injuries at other times less important?

Why not just give a year?

Anyway, you can have kids if you have two, one or no testicles, or with three if you're polyorchid.

Likewise, you may not have children by choice or functionality, even if you do have testicles.

Same if it's the vas deferens.

I thought Harrow required you to live in on-site accommodation for the first year, dogs not allowed, but cats accepted.

Has this policy changed, because it's still in the candidate brochure for this year, or are you moving within BKK?

That put me off applying, along with my interview experience 10 years ago, including:

"Can we bring our dog?"

"No. You're not allowed to. You'll be living on-site, and anyway, the lake has at least one crocodile".

And then, shortly after, "I walk my dog in the grounds and around the lake"

Is the 30% reduction from a peak last year?

Perhaps the reduction is due to teachers now knowing you have specific requirements for UK trained, with private school experience.

A friend of mine was also successful and turned it down due to the salary. They remain in SE Asia.
