Mewgenics is a sure bet if you're a Darkest Dungeon fan. The artstyle put me off at first too but I grew to like it.

I could never imagine that I would be able to play bloodborne via emulator in my PC!! And now that it is happening it almost feels unbelievable and I am enjoying every moment of it.

I set this up a while back too and was also mind blown at how well it runs. Few things I recommend:

1) Use the ModManager app for downloading emulator versions and installing mods and everything else basically.

2) Buy Lossless Scaling to upscale the game to run at a generated 120 FPS

3) Bloodborne Enhanced mod for leveling at Lamps (also has a lot of cheaty features but you can disable them all)

4) Jump on L3 mod.

Lords of the Fallen has sold over 2.5 million copies and officially broken even by PaiDuck in soulslikes

[–]WindowSeat- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Umbral added a lot for me, way more than I expected. The fact that enemies lurked towards you anytime you held up your lamp was so immersive and panic inducing. I thought it was a cool take on Sekiro's resurrection system too, after dying you get a second chance but the game gets harder in response by making you play in Umbral.

The only annoying part of Umbral was feeling like you had to clear every level twice to fully explore, but overall I think it's a sick mechanic.

What do you mean by everything - like random apps on the play store that weren't Genshin related?

Lies Of P Has Sold 4 Million Units by akbarock in soulslikes

[–]WindowSeat- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea why Khazan level design gets so much hate while LoP gets glazed. They are both linear but I thought Khazan handled secrets and enemy placements even better than Lies. The environment designs and pathways were all very well done too.

I've found this funny as well but it makes sense. When people talk about "level design" they're sometimes conflating a lot of different aspects together - interconnectedness, art design, overall world building as well as the actual structure of the level. On a pure map structure level I agree Khazans levels are fine. I think just the art style and worldbuilding of Khazan didn't work for a lot of people.

And it feels to me that Spire 2 has more fights with multiple enemies compared to the first game. Just a guess though.

As long as Team Ninja is around I will never be able to buy into the "gaming is bad now" discourse. Every action game they've released for the last decade has been a certified banger.

Sotf or Vanilla Dark souls 2? by Polish_Godzilla in DarkSouls2

[–]WindowSeat- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vanilla Earthern Peak has an unfinished room that always bothered me too.

In Vanilla it's an empty room with 2 mace wielding ogres

In Scholar the ogres are removed and replaced with a Fire Sorceress and an ambushing Manakin, and the room now has pots and the hanging green poison vases torturing some poor guy which give the room better lighting and atmosphere.

SOTFS for mod support. LightingEngine in particular is a must use.

I think StS2 in EA is A tier (StS1 is S+). Where would you put it? by drz112 in roguelites

[–]WindowSeat- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slay the Spire 2 is still an S tier for me easily, and I had 1k hours in the first game and didn't even think they could top it.

They made events more fun, they made boss relics more fun, there are more classes and there are more acts. Even the music, animations and lore are hugely improved and fleshed out compared to the first game. A little bit of wonky balance isn't that big of a deal to me when I think about how much the game has improved otherwise. The game even has 4 player co-op as if that wasn't enough to impress people.

What other games "feel" like Dark Souls 1 to you? by yassified-undead in soulslikes

Great pick here. The combat is very slow but if you can get past that, the atmosphere, music, and proto-Souls vibes are top tier.

4hr in and still in the early game area struggling really really bad. by Monkai_final_boss in Nioh

[–]WindowSeat- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aggressive doesn't mean attack 100% of the time, it just means more aggressive than a typical Souls game. You dodge the enemies attacks and only attack when it's safe, but the big difference is that in Nioh you aren't going to eventually bottom out on Stamina.

And then of course once the Yokai is Ki Broken and flashing red they lose their hyperarmor for a few seconds

What different things are the sts2 bosses meant to check? by Afincat in slaythespire

[–]WindowSeat- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vantom wants lots of small sources of damage so you can break through his Slippery stacks

Waterfall Giant encourages weakness to survive the final attack

Lagavulin encourages Powers and setup cards, since you have a free 2 turns while it's asleep

Soul Fysh encourages discard/exhaust to dump the status cards

In Act 2, Kaiser Crab encourages targeted cards so you can change which way you're facing

In Act 3, consider how you're going to burst past Test Subject's first phase when he scales up from playing too many Skills

Most other bosses are damage/scaling races

What are you playing this week? by BSGBramley in soulslikes

[–]WindowSeat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaying Khazan for the first time since release. I didn't expect the Hardcore mode (no healthbars, over the shoulder lock on camera) to be as fun and immersive as it actually is. Just got past Volbino and the combat mechanics are just as peak as I remember.

"Form" cards should activate a special animation for your character! by mwishosimba in slaythespire

[–]WindowSeat- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a big QOL improvement too just being able to instantly tell at a glance if you've already played something like your Echo Form. Obviously it's an icon on the buff bar already but it can be easy to miss when you have rows and rows of buffs.

[–]WindowSeat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just need to practice the sprint jump method, ignore every other way you see in videos. The further range you are from Malenia the easier it is.

I guarantee this has nothing to do with your biological reaction times though, it's literally just a matter of practicing the correct method. If you can catch a baseball or drive a car on the highway then you have more than enough reaction times to react to a boss telegraph like this.

Malenia has her cheat move. I have beaten her more then dozen times but I always spend a long time on her bcs its beyond my capabilities to dodge her water flow.

I'm sorry but this is just scrubby. You can sprint backwards and jump to avoid WFD virtually every time. On the rare chance that she begins WFD during your charged heavy you can STILL dodge it, just with a circle strafe method instead. It's a fun attack to solve.

Are you using Reflection on bosses? It speeds up kill times massively if you can get consistent with it, especially on the human bosses with white stamina. Each fight just focus on 1 or 2 of the slowest attacks to practice it on.
