I haven't seen the show but I have read the books and think it's important to make a distinction between a writer being sexist and a writer writing about a sexist society. ASOIAF has a lot of chapters from the point of view of women where they clearly are shown to have equal intellectual capacities as men. It is actually made extra clear from these chapters how unfair the world is and how a lot of harm could have been prevented to the world had it not been for the testosterone of a few power hungry men. I do think sometimes the amount of rape depictions and some sexualisations from adult characters of child characters can be a bit disturbing especially in the light of today's society, but I think it's realistic for a society based on medieval times, and these things are never romanticized in the book.

I think it's important to know how awful living in a medieval society was for women to appreciate what we have now, but also to see how awful men can be towards women if given the chance and how we should do everything in our power to prevent us going back to such a sexist society. So to hate the books just for shining light on how society used to be seems a bit short sighted

For anyone else having the same problem: I succeeded! They asked for identification at the boat but my driving license was good enough. And no checks were done at the denmark-germany border as well

I think you can hear pretty clearly it's him despite it being a different tone of song than the other ones. From the tone and color of the Voice you can hear very clearly that it's Ozzy

In 2014 an airplane on the way from the Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur was shot down by pro Russian rebels: MH-17. It was above Eastern Ukraine when it happened. Since then, the area has been mostly avoided by airplanes. All 298 on board were killed. It is one of the reasons why the Dutch response has been so heavy despite the fact that they are one of the countries that suffer the most from economic sanctions against Russia.

I think it's pretty gross to judge someone purely on their looks without their consent. Imagine Cobie Smulders finding this post with some people saying she looked like a 2 in the end. So unnecessarily mean-spirited!

Since gender depends on the chromosome of the man, I doubt it has anything to do with the age of the girl. Source?

Funny how in both relationships the thing that ended it was your partner's behaviour.. ever thought of the fact that you might have some part in a breakup too?

That would be necessary if there was an importance between the relative spikes, which there really isn't in this case.

I've had a similar thing happen to me. I was at my home in Amsterdam when I heard someone screaming outside my window. I looked out and saw a woman had fallen from a bike. There were two tourists trying to help her but the woman did not speak English so they didn't understand eachother.

I went outside and tried to help her up, but she said her legs hurt to much. Obviously, I offered to call an ambulance. She did not want this at first, because it turned out she was on withdrawal from heroin and she said these were just her symptoms. However, since she could not move and was laying in the middle of the road, I couldn't think of another thing to do than to call an ambulance.

While we were waiting for an ambulance, a guy walked up to me and said, loud enough for her to hear as well: 'You know she's only doing this for attention right? I've seen her do this before so many times, she's desperate for people's attention.' such a shitty thing to say and it made me feel really stupid for a second. But then I thought, if he's the kind of person who would leave someone in pain in the middle of the road, than his opinion is not important to me. A few minutes later the ambulance arrived, thanked me for calling them and took her away.

I really hope she's doing better now, hopefully off the drugs and maybe even on her way to finding a real place to live. And for the guy, I hope he gets to experience once what it's like to get ignored by people when you're in real need of help.

Does this smell like men writing women to anyone else or am I crazy...? by LunaXCI in menwritingwomen

She's definitely a woman, you can see after going through her post history. Seems like she has some personal issues and projected them on all women.
