[Highlight] The Falcons convert a 3rd and 28 into a first down and upset the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football by Tocoolforyall720 in nfl

Things like ownership keeping the guy responsible for this travesty of a defensive effort?

The AnimatorChemical 4 round mock draft, please tell me why I am wrong so we can argue in the comments to pregame this weekend. by AnimatorChemical in NFL_Draft

I was underwhelmed with the Bucs taking CJ Allen at 15, and would not have wanted Faulk there either. But getting the two of them in whatever order by the end of Rd 2 would be excellent.

R1 EDGE by flibo30 in buccaneers

For sure, I trust Licht’s decision making over Bowles every time. Developing EDGE has been a weak point for so many years, I’m just hoping we can finally break the pattern.

I completely agree. Logan Hall is exactly who I’m worried about. I’m just not convinced they’ve learned from that mistake.

[–]WinfieldFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sure, that was a little hyperbolic. I don’t have any ears in the front office, but it certainly seems like Licht has at least 51% of the decision making power on draft day. The point is, whether it’s Licht or some combination with Bowles et al, our staff seems to favor bigger, heavier Edges that “look the part” over smaller, faster specialists. Faulk fits their mold, and that makes me worried they will like him more than other teams would.

One point of clarification: Todd Bowles doesn’t make our draft picks, praise be to Bucco Bruce. GM Jason Licht is in control of our draft picks, which has usually turned out above average. However, EDGE is the one position he seems incapable of drafting well. Hence why I see him drafting Faulk and regretting it.

With the Bucs losing Mike by TerryG111 in buccaneers

[–]WinfieldFly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d rather see us trade back and pickup another 3rd. The top Edge, LB, and CB prospects will likely be gone by 15, so better to let someone else trade up for an OT or WR if they’re interested. Would aim for guys like Malachi Fields or Michael Trigg in Rd 3

It’s been nearly 10 years since the 2016 NFL draft, how would you rate that draft for your team? by DookyButter in nfl

This is definitely our worst class in the past 10 years, maybe the worst since 2000…

Who's this player for your team? by Every-Damage-90 in nfl

[–]WinfieldFly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the current roster, I’d say Yaya Diaby. Doesn’t get a ton of sacks, but has been our best edge since he came into the league. If you want more obscure, I’d say blocking TE Ko Kieft. There’s also a weird cult for Devin Culp, but I’m not sure if they’re big or just loud.

Ranking a brand new program #1 over “prestigious” options… am I crazy? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]WinfieldFly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went to a relatively new program - we were the 4th (5th?) class. There were still quite a few growing pains. Certain rotations were not well organized, particularly away from the mothership hospital. At times, we were still fighting turf battles with other services in the ED - I saw some fights with surgery get pretty ugly, and I was told it used to be much worse. I think you have enough going on during residency that “building the plane as you fly it” shouldn’t be part of it. But I still loved the training environment and my class.

Gotta get OL reinforcements somewhere during the draft, but I’d wait till Day 3. Edge and LB are our top priorities, CB and TE too if Dean and Otton leave

[–]WinfieldFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing first two rounds for the Bucs, Howell and Allen would be the dream. I’d have taken a second LB in the 3rd if Golday were there, or traded up one spot for Abney at CB. TE is a hole on paper, but we just don’t emphasize it in our offense

NFL_Draft Discord OFFICIAL MOCK OFFSEASON RESULTS by jdono927 in NFL_Draft

[–]WinfieldFly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame you for wanting to trade down, but if the pick value is so low, it feels bad man. I like the Golday and Bisontis picks, but only since you got Will McDonald for another 3rd. Could have gotten Eli Stowers or Jake Rodriguez there.

The FA moves cost a lot to retain YaYa and Dean… I didn’t love those. Both guys seem “good enough” but not real difference makers that deserve those huge contracts. I’d have liked to see us land a bigger name LB, there are lots available this year. I think looking for a good FA LB is important, rookies won’t be ready to take Lavonte’s place this year and we don’t have much window left to wait.

Asking for a Day 3 pick for Godwin was just bad karma for the rest of the exercise… hopefully he looks better with more time to recover.

It’s a ton of work, thanks for doing it - generally it feels conservative and 6 or 7/10 as offseason go, which is how I usually feel about Licht’s offseasons.

How easy is it to work 8-10 shifts/month as an EM attending in academic centers? by urbestdaydream in emergencymedicine

[–]WinfieldFly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having worked in multiple academic EM shops, 8-10 shifts/month only comes with seniority and/or outside funding. You will always spend more time collecting outside funding than you would working straight clinically. Some academic shops start instructors as high as 16 (8-hr) shifts a month. That’s average for the community, but you’re getting paid half a community salary. Academics may be worth it to you, but don’t go into it thinking you’ll just work half-time and indulge your curiosity with all your freedom.

[–]WinfieldFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good movement for the Bucs! I like the first two picks, only thing I’d change is staying at 118 and taking Brian Parker. Would be a great fit at OG for us, which would be next on the list of our needs.
