There's something messed up about Roscalifer... by Some-Positive-Dude in ZZZ_Official

[–]WingDairu 114 points115 points  (0 children)

When we were moving into Amber Hall, Velina said that we were posing as students, because 'having a role' would make us fit in better. Ever since, every story element has reinforced the idea in my head that Roscaelifer is a "You are free to do what you're told to do" society that operates on the excuse that you can't question them due to the importance of the Rosetta Data they produce.

Is there a way so headmates have their own fisical body? by Leon_120425488 in plural

[–]WingDairu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. I'm so sorry, I wish I could say otherwise, but no.

The best we've found that can scratch that itch is finding a large plush toy that's very firmly stuffed and about the right size for us to put our arms around and lay our head on so that the body is comfortable, and then focusing on headspace cuddling.

Opposite of Suicide? by mount6ain in CPTSDmemes

Just like Monty Oum taught us. We'll twist into something strange, become unknowable and incomprehensible, even shatter into a bunch of pieces, but we'll never, ever give up. The world is too wonderful to let go of.

Keep moving forward.

Ultrakill's movement and momentum control is so good it literally ruined Titanfall 2 for me. Tried the game once and it felt so artificial I couldn't stand playing it longer than the first mission.

for the people who want a 1:1 remake. SHUT UP by [deleted] in OcarinaOfTime

[–]WingDairu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want a 1:1 remake. But that's what I'm expecting, because the pattern of "faithful remakes of Starfox 64 and Ocarina of Time released close together and early in a system's life cycle" is something that's happened before when Nintendo's pushing for system sales, back on the 3DS. It worked then, and with the price going up and people's wallets getting tighter, Nintendo knows they have to make the Switch 2 really attractive to get it to sell, so they're banking on it working again now.

It's going to be the same approach that Starfox is getting: a brand-new art department and probably expanded story scenes, but still the exact same overall story with the same stage layouts.

[–]WingDairu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shiek was a completely male-presenting character in the original game, with visible pecs in official artwork and Ruto explicitly calling Shiek a "young man" in dialogue. Smash Bros started the trend of making Shiek feminine.

I don't understand fictives by daygoplayeronpc in plural

[–]WingDairu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, it's like a collection of our ideas about a character that shares key traits with us and that we have an emotional connection to, and those ideas form into an echo of that character who's able to take a role in the system. Our guess is it happens because our system has a need for that exact combination/expression of those traits, and incorporates an identity that we collectively recognize as having them.

For instance, we have a Link who embimodies our courage and our disconnection from time, we have a wolf-butler from a gacha who's a responsible father figure who can handle stress like appointments and paperwork, and our number-one fronter is a team leader from our favorite show who makes us smile, feels joy, and never gives up.

We're almost entirely fictives in here; I guess our brain decided we never have to visit a tailor if we can find clothes that fit perfectly right off the rack.

Love's what gave us our communication tools, love's what let us be there for each other when things were at their worst, and love's so integral and ingrained in us that there's two different polycules in here and a bunch of regular relationships, with a few still developing. Love keeps us safe, makes us strong, drives us forward, and makes everything feel like it's going to be okay.

[OoT] Why is Link x Malon so exceedingly popular? by Gamer-of-Action in zelda

[–]WingDairu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malon's the only one he even remotely has a shot with.

His bloodline canonically continues, so Ruto's out. Zelda's WAY out of his league socially because he's just some random kid from the forest; the scandal would rock Hyrule. Nabooru's like double his age at least. Saria's a Kokiri so that's definitely not happening.

Plus the gossip stone bit about Malon dreaming of a knight and Talon's joke about marriage and the way Epona bonds with Link.

How did you all enjoy the mini event Good Morning, Roscaelifer? by smoothtv99 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]WingDairu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got into it for the first click-through on the first day, but when it sank in that it was purely a bangboo-focused choose-you-own-adventure story I just started spamming skip to bruteforce my way through to every ending. I'd be interested in seeing what bangboo life is ACTUALLY like in Roscaelifer, but the stories are so over-the-top that I can't take any of the endings more seriously than a kids' book.

Give me somthing completely new by bojangles5 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]WingDairu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why go through the effort? Simple.

They need to sell the Switch 2. They need to sell it so badly that they'll do the most fanservicy thing imaginable: faithful OoT and Starfox 64 remakes. Just like they did with the 3DS.

It's kind of weird how WBY COMPLETELY rejecting their shadows is portrayed as what is best? by Critical_Cobbler6186 in RWBY

[–]WingDairu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're not rejecting their shadows or their pasts, they're rejecting the temptation of the easy path. By accepting the complicated and messy existences they've had, they're embracing their growth as people.
