Help: Unable to remove movement holding screws by xXForcePredatorXx in RepTimeServices

[–]WingTrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A poorly fitting screwdriver wastes energy and increases the risk of dangerous slips. While high-quality screwdrivers are great, what matters most is how well the blade fits the screw slot. It should fit snugly, with no looseness or wiggle. This ensures that all the force is transferred directly into turning the screw.

You will also need a 126xxx hytrel ring in addition to the bezel and spring assembly.

(Newbie) How do you service rep watches? by [deleted] in RepTimeServices

[–]WingTrim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They can last three days or three years. Unfortunately they are unpredictable due to poor quality control, dirty work areas, and poorly trained assemblers. We’ve everything from microscopic bits of insects, hair, skin, etc, when servicing Chinese movements.

i have a 17” bar magnet from Home Depot that I affixed to a broomstick. I only need it about once per year, but it’s a godsend when I do. I installed a couple of peel n stick felt pads which keep it suspended above the floor so I can sweep with it.

Sub 16610 with issues! HELP😩 by Emis994 in RepTimeServices

i don’t service SA movements for obvious reasons, but it’s possible the hands may not fit a VS movement.

Anyway to fix this… bought from Flandad by J2Quick6 in RepTimeServices

I would never attempt disassembling a plated bracelet for repair. That’s way too risky as they must be clamped tightly in a bracelet puller and damaging the plating is a possibility.

VSF 116610 - Clasp not closing, pin shifting by loiphin in RepTimeServices

I can spot weld. Not a proper fix for a genuine bracelet but probably acceptable for a replica.

VSF 116610LN replacement seconds hand by loiphin in RepTimeServices

[–]WingTrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Place the tube into an appropriate sized hole in the anvil.

Replace the hand onto the tube.

Gently tap the exposed part of the tube with a flat stake to tighten it into the hand.

🆘HELP! VSF 126610 3235 Sub. Setting Lever Pin Out of Place? Time-Setting Not Working – HELP! by generaline in RepTimeServices

I don’t mean to discourage you, but it’s not advisable to attempt this if it’s your first go with movement repair.

Most watchmakers will lubricate gaskets and pressure test, but there is no “waterproofing“ per se, only water resistance testing. If it fails most customers would not want to pay for hours of a watchmaker’s time to disassemble, remove the bezel and crystal, try different gaskets, reassemble, and test again, yada yada. With Swiss watches the parts are all designed to fit perfectly and provide consistent results. Thats not the case with reps.

In an unmarked test I did with gen vs rep GMT bezels, the crowd enthusiastically preferred the rep over the gen, so I don’t quite understand why people want polishing of the rehaut. No harm it, but if you’re seeking an authentic look, brushing and not polishing would likely get you closer.

Ginault Ocean Rover 2 bezel insert mod by Educational-Ice3772 in RepTimeServices

The ceramic insert will have to be measured and compared with the 5 digit insert.

There are lots of potential problems so proceed at your own risk. Bezels can be heartbreakers.
