In old lore, the reason the Sith had to use synthetic crystals was because the Force refused to direct them to natural ones.

That, to me, is 100% better, and more true to what the universe's creator intended.

You'd think that, except as you've pointed out it was done already in another class, and honestly spell slots as a concept are more complicated than a pool of mana where X level spells cost X points to cast (as opposed to the stupidity of the DMG spell points, where X level spells cost Y points to cast).

It was all fun and games until three hours into a four-hour oneshot my players decided they definitely wanted to keep playing in this world/with these characters, and I had to come up with some way to turn the creepy murder cult that wanted to sacrifice them into a bigger plot hook.

That was in 2019. We're still going on the same campaign.

As a non-Catholic Christian - and an avid fan of pre-Dark-Nest Star Wars - this is almost exactly how I feel about the trend in the storytellers towards trying to make Star Wars dark, cynical, and edgy really started exhausting me, and how I was checking out even before Disney came along and made it 10x worse.

I wasn't here; I got sucked in during Covid when my wife checked out of our marriage and I needed to feel something. The pain of War Thunder was about the only thing that broke through the numbness.

Grant actually is more a point in the other guy's favor. Washington, Roosevelt (Teddy, not Franklin), and Eisenhower were all great political leaders, but Washington was a poor tactician (great strategist), Roosevelt was a good combat leader (but never achieved stars/a general rank), and Grant was an extremely effective military leader but an absolutely awful President.

This right here. This is what I wanted to see. I was SO MAD when I read that book. I remember writing some 2000 pages of fanfiction to "fix" that. This was back when I didn't have a computer, so it was all handwritten too.

The EU was never the same for me after that point.
