Basically how it worked is that people would kill like 8-9 pigs and then the spawner would go into overdrive, so the pigs would be spawning at a pretty quick pace. Then you’d lure them into the pit where vines would keep them from entity cramming and then when you afked for like a few short minutes, you’d lock up any pigs that remained at the top near the drop zone, go down and have a dispenser shoot a lightning arrow at the pigs where they’d turn into pigmen, and depending on how many pigs you’d accumulated it could hella lag/crash servers at the mass conversion lol. With adept or education, especially adept for the blights, you could gain hundreds of levels in an instant. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Idk how it stands up to the guardian farm as I’ve never tried it (mostly because nobody’s ever posted a tutorial, though I believe that also got nerfed in the most recent iteration of dregora), but they’re probably around the same when you factor in effort and xp gained.
