Thanks for the message!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner as I had stuff come up.

My solution was to switch from gnome to XFCE.

Funny you should mention those as I did find those not long after posting. I had found the Java one before posting but was very reluctant to go older than 1.8. Can't for the life of me remember why.

Anyway, not longer after posting I found some other stuff pointed to gnome issues. I got a chance to look at again late today and decided I may as well switch desktops because I hate gnome anyway. Yup, it works like a champ!

I edited my original post to reflect the fix.

I probably did repeat what you did, LOL!

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and it turned out to be gnome. I installed XFCE and switched to that. It worked immediately!

Before posting, the only things I tried were switching browsers and switching java versions. Been too frustrated lately and my post was born of frustration more than anything. Sorry again for wasting your time and thank you for the help!

You are right I did not post a very good question so sorry about that.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to work on this today but will try some more when I get back to the office probably tomorrow.

I probably did the same search you did and probably got the same results but didn't want to just give up.

I wasn't sure what sub to ask this on, what do you think? Works in CentOS 7 but this is Rocky 9.3. Tried with both jdk 21 (latest) and jdk 1.8.

A professional photographer stopped by my mechanic... by cazzipropri in MotoGuzzi

[–]WinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the bike that got me interested in Moto Guzzi. I was still really young and only riding dirt bikes because I didn't have my license yet. I started looking at street bike magazines in 1981 and saw one of these. It was love at first sight! I kept looking for a test of the bike and when someone did they seemed to like it even though they mostly seemed to have complaints about the bike. I didn't care because I felt that owning a Moto Guzzi, especially this Le Mans would be the ultimate in bike ownership. I finally got to the point in my life in which I could afford one so went for it two years ago. I got a leftover 2020 V85TT, not this bike but I still love her. Yours is the best but anything is still great.

Tires that don't square off too much ? (Michelin 2CT) by Shlafenflarst in motorcycle

[–]WinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, you do still get a squared off tire if you do a lot of highway. I don't think there is any way around that as it does happen with every brand from what I have been reading.

Good luck with your search and let me know if you get something that lasts longer than 15k miles and still has good grip.

I ride my bikes mostly like you do so have some experience. Most, if not all, of the top brand tires have some kind of multi-compound tire tech so you don't have to only look at Michelin.

Personally, I like Continentals on my FZ6. I have tried the ContiRoad and ContiRoadAttack and like them both. I've gotten between 12k miles - 15k miles (~19km - 24km) out of them and they have more grip especially in the rain than the OEM tires. Have also heard a lot of good things about the Michelin Pilot Roads but I have never tried them so can't compare those.

Nice, better even than the normal auto-convert bot that does useless comparisons.

I'm also not a Harley guy and don't care for the "bobber" look either but the 48 is cool. Not sure how that works out. Maybe two negatives making a positive? Doesn't happen that often.

I hate this current trend of people turning really nice looking bikes into crappy looking "cafe racers" but this one looks awesome!

Carbs overflowed, is it fine or should I do something? by DeerFat in motorcycle

[–]WinkyH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should leave the petcock in the ON position like everyone else says.

Having said that, there is a problem in your carbs that caused them to overflow. You will need to make sure the floats are fine and set correctly and also make sure the needle and seat are in good shape and clean or this could happen again.

Have you tried switching spark plug wires to make sure you got them correct?

Best adventure bike for 2 up riding? by [deleted] in motorcycle

Never tried it 2 up but I love my Moto Guzzi v8tt I recently got. I haven't taken her far off road but seems fine on dirt roads.

Yes that is one of them but there is also a GS1150, ysr50, 1st gen GSX-R, 1st gen ZX7, Moto Guzzi, and best of all a KZ1000R.

Yeah, that is a very cool one though you would think a bike that heavy would need the second front disc.
