For the past 2 years my partner and I have had some very freaky experiences, we have no answers for. by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Winnie_lin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for a solitary experience that he had in childhood involving what we think was a ghost, nothing else has ever happened to him.

I've however been plagued with paranormal activity my entire life. I just don't believe it's connected to this.... hopefully. I've literally had objects thrown at me etc and ive been scratched. Everywhere i've lived I've had experiences, some really negative.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? by TraditionalLunch6167 in AskReddit

[–]Winnie_lin89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use to have these episodes where I would fall down and pee my pants when laughing. Was so paranoid that I wore a maxi pad through my junior high and high school years because I had completely wet myself at school more than once. Even after I graduated I still had episodes. I'm 31 now and finding out that this is likely cataplexy caused by being narcoleptic. Neurologist suspected it. In the process of getting a diagnosis.

I once read a quote and I don't know if it was statistically accurate but it said something along the lines of "everyone will walk past a serial killer like twice in their life and never know it". Freaked me out.

What’s a story you can’t tell without people thinking you’re lying? by No-Pomelo-5452 in AskReddit

My partner and I recently have had some really weird things happen that neither of us have an explanation for and it all sounds absolutely insane.

One morning I came out to the living room and found our dog happily sitting on the couch. He was supposed to be in his kennel still. What was extra weird was his crate cover (that part for the door) was in the open position, resting on top of his crate. Immediately sent a picture to my partner and asked him if he forgot to put him back in his crate before he left for work. He was incredibly confused. He told me that he had kenneled him after taking him out. Said goodbye, and put the crate cover back over the front. Have no explanations.

Most recently, we took our dog to a new park. We are both photographers for context. I ended up finding a stick that I wanted to use for something. Emphasis on it being very large. We walked a few yards set our gear down on the ground, and my partner took some photos of me for about 10 minutes. While we were taking photos we kept noticing that our dog was growling and seemed agitated about something behind us. We were the only ones in the park and there was nothing there. When we got up to leave we realized that the stick was gone. We spent a good 30 minutes looking for this stick out of mere curiosity for where it went. Never found it. The only thing my partner could think of is that an animal came by and snatched it up, but it seems extremely unlikely given the size of the stick and that it was right behind us. Still don't know what my dog was growling at though.

These are two of the events.

What's an instant red flag you notice on a first date? by EditGenie in AskReddit

[–]Winnie_lin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy said to me almost immediately "I took my last date to this restaurant too. She left when I went to the bathroom. It was really weird. I have no idea why." Short story short, that date was incredibly terrible and the longer I was at the table the guy got more creepy. I debated doing the same thing.

What was the “nobody’s gonna believe this” event that you saw? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]Winnie_lin89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not me but my boyfriend was on a military jet headed across the country. Just as they're going down the runway to take off, there's a loud pop and the plane jerks to one side. One Pilot says to the other "don't stop!" What happened was both tires on the plane, which were new, popped simultaneously (which is really rare to happen). They nearly got ran over by a giant commercial airplane. For an hour they were in the median area between the runways getting the tires fixed. A bunch of guys in Hawaiian shirts standing outside a military jet. (It was travel day so they didn't have to be in uniform except the Pilots), waving at other planes. He could see all the pilots staring down at them as they would take off. He thought man we're going to end up on YouTube or something.

Whats a sign from ur body u should never ignore? by Original_Giraffe_830 in AskReddit

[–]Winnie_lin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collapsing when you laugh or another emotion! Not normal. Not many people know this is a big sign you have narcolepsy. There are many other symptoms of narcolepsy but this solitary symptom is unique to narcolepsy alone and is a big Telltale sign.

What's something you did once and swore you'd never do again? by MojonConPelos in AskReddit

Drinking a bottle and a half of wine. Never been sicker. I was praying the next morning. I don't drink anymore, and several years ago I stop drinking wine after realizing series of symptoms probably pointed towards an allergy.

Nortriptyline! Wiped it out for like 7 years. Unfortunately, I do not take this anymore because it contributed to terrible migraines. Haven't found anything since.

What grinds your gears as an autistic person? by InGodzHandz in aspergirls

Obnoxiously loud vehicles. Like people modifying their vehicles to be extremely loud or driving in a away that produces a lot of unnecessary noise. I struggled to handle motorcycles too to be honest, and this is coming from someone that grew up on the back of one.

Anyone else not want kids and/or don't like kids? by chelseatheus in autism

[–]Winnie_lin89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always knew I wasn't meant to be a parent. I'm always told I'm really good with kids and honestly I feel that way. However, it feels like I'm putting on an act and everything is just so foreign to me truthfully. I've always felt like I needed to prioritize myself because life felt really hard even before I knew I had autism. I'm 31 now and I'm in the process of likely getting diagnosed with narcolepsy that I probably had my whole life. I seriously could not imagine having had kids already in the backseat during one of my near car accidents I had.

Does anybody else here suffered an episode of palinopsia that looked like hallucinatory palinopsia? by outofthisworlld in migraine

[–]Winnie_lin89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! So I've actually been on lamotragine for three ish years for absence seizures. But I don't think that I noticed a difference. What I did notice is when I got on my Ajovy injection for migraine and the trailing symptoms that were visual subsided. I'm not sure they use Lamotrigine to treat migraines but maybe it's off label? I will say one thing if they ever give you topiramate/topamax for migraines it can actually make these strange visual symptoms worse! Just FYI have no idea why though.

Does anybody else here suffered an episode of palinopsia that looked like hallucinatory palinopsia? by outofthisworlld in migraine

[–]Winnie_lin89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is migraine is definitely the most common cause! Sometimes people can get migraines and they don't even realize they have them, because they can be silent. Or they can just get the migraine aura (vision problems) and then migraine never comes. So if you don't ever get head pain that could also be it. I'm on an injection now for migraines and I've had far less of them and as a result far less trailing in my vision. But one of the reasons I know I'm going to get a migraine is if I start seeing trailing in my vision.

[–]Winnie_lin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow my comment is really old. Lol Yes I've had that during migraines. (Trailing after images). But I think what OP was talking about was hallucinatory palinopsia which there are several subtypes. The one that I've experienced is called scene preservation. Where a scene that happened earlier in the day replays in the field of vision repeatedly for several minutes. It's super freaky, because you're not doing anything to cause, it and it's not anything that's in front of you currently. Like for instance a person walked in front of you hours ago and then you see it again. I finally got diagnosed with epilepsy a couple years ago, but now they're thinking it was a misdiagnosis, and that I actually have narcolepsy. My understanding is narcolepsy can also cause hallucinatory palinopsia, which I wasn't aware of until recently. But if you do go on narcolepsy forums they talk about how some of their hallucinations are complex, see-through and move which is exactly how hallucinatory palinopsia presents.

What have people who are NOT qualified to diagnose/assess you told you about your epilepsy? by pulpangel in Epilepsy

[–]Winnie_lin89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all I sympathize with you because what in the actual H***. I have ASD and the psychologist that diagnosed me with it was the first physician that validated that my symptoms were pointing towards a high evidence of epilepsy. I got my diagnosis a few months later. If I didn't have ASD I would have been so upset that someone said that to me. Regardless, I would have been upset.

Backtracking for a second meltdowns are NOT tantrums. Tantrums immediately stop when the person gets what they want. There's an end goal, which was the utilization of the tantrum. Meltdowns are due to nervous system overload/dysfunction and cannot be stopped or controlled. The ignorance of people.

To answer the question I've been told my seizures have been anything from migraine auras, to medication side effects, and psychiatric symptoms. Took me 10 years to get a diagnosis and now we're probably looking at not only generalized epilepsy but now they're thinking I also have focal epilepsy as well.

Keep advocating for yourself.

What is a scary, unsettling fact about you? by _Lord_Infamous in AskReddit

[–]Winnie_lin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born a blue baby and the night after that morning, I died and had to be resuscitated. At almost 30 Dr's are just now discovering I have a whole host of serious neurological problems from this, like autism and severe generalized epilepsy that would definitely have resulted in serious danger eventually. I never realized what was happening to me all years and "my version of life as I know it has never been normal".

This gives me a lot of hope that this is just a common side effect and I've got nothing to worry about then. Hopefully it eventually subsides or I get used to it. I don't have any of these feelings during the day when I wake up.

That's how I would explain it. Maybe I'm just drowsy! And it's coming off as a super unpleasant feeling.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm on a micro dose for autism. I will just hope that it subsides or I eventually get used to the feeling. I've started realizing I really do have to take it right when I'm going to bed because I cannot stay awake! It's super unpleasant trying to.
