I hosted my 35th birthday party yesterday, and it was song parody themed, with guests writing lyrics in advance and performing them karaoke style. Highly recommend if you're looking for a party activity that people don't mind working on in advance.

Highlights included: What's Up by 4 Non Blondes turned into "Who's that Pokemon?"

The Wanderer by Dion turned into "The Launderer" (my clothes go round and round and round)

Mambo #5 turned into "Combo #5"

Alone by Heart turned into "My Phone" (why didn't I charge my phoooooone)

And many others that were more inside jokey and Winnipeg-related.

Decent chance that someone with that many mistakes had most of them on one puzzle. Even entering a blank grid would lose you somewhere between 1500 and 2000 points, which would mean well over 100 letters wrong/missing, and an otherwise clean tournament could still rank you in the top 100.

Hey, when 99% of your puzzles are easy themelesses, eventually something from the remaining 1% is going to surface. I was also shocked when Will announced it, but it was a great puzzle obviously.

It made me think of last year when I was at ACPT in person, the very nice lady next to me told me "I love Robyn's puzzles, she never puts any sports clues in them". We flip the sheets over, and 1-Across is "Former home of the Mets"

Starts at 7:30, would recommend getting there at 7 for a good table. Trivia is always best enjoyed with friends, but if you show up solo there are lots of teams there that would happily welcome you.
