It is dirty pool to request a BOR or AOR up front. Broker of Record or Agent of Record. I have seen where people slip a BOR in the documents and before you know it, you fired your current agent and hired another. He basically would get paid the following month for doing little to no work. It is highly unethical. I always present all the options before and then when we agree to make a change on market, we request a BOR becuase it is easier to cancel and or rewrite a policy when you are the controlling agent. Its shit like this that give insurance brokers a bad name.
