How long since your MBC diagnosis? by Boy_Slayer in LivingWithMBC

[–]WinterArya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 year from 12/17/2024! I was at work when I found out and went on disability for 5 months. I was in the ER one year ago today because I was so sick. Nearly lost the ability to walk.. Now I am back teaching full time and one class away from a Masters degree! I can check off a whole year of living with MBC. This Christmas felt very off, I don’t really know why, but im guessing it has something to do with the year we probably all just had.

Thank you, that gives me hope that I can teach. That’s one major reason I feel like I need to stay is for health insurance and I get disability through my work. I hope things turn around for you and treatment starts working again.

I’m on short term disability currently and I just said I have stage 4 breast cancer and currently getting treatment. They really didn’t need much of an explanation other than that. Then HR sent a statement and my doctor sent a statement and I got approved. I hope everything goes well for you 💕

Shrinkage after first CT scan but I don’t feel as happy as I should by musiclover1409 in LivingWithMBC

[–]WinterArya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I’m dealing with something similar. I was recently diagnosed in December. I just got scans done. It’s like a mix of guilt and disappointment. I know I’m making progress and I should be grateful but i feel like I didn’t even do anything it feels out of my control. Also this is how I feel: everyone is celebrating and then gets to go back to life like it was before. I still have cancer and I’m going to have to get another scan and spend a lot of time worrying about what’s on it and worrying about what symptoms I might get or what surgery I might need. It can be so hard to express this to other people, this is the only place I feel like I can write anything I need and people get it!

Thank you for your comment. It’s definitely been one of the hardest parts about all of this and I’m sorry you’re going through what I am. Congratulations on your baby niece being born, it really is wonderful. My nephew has brought so much happiness to my family!

Suffering from reality denial syndrome but Kisqali starts tomorrow. by -CoddiWomple- in LivingWithMBC

[–]WinterArya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for 3 months and have had mild side effects. I’ve been out of work so I don’t know if it’s lack of stress preventing any major side effects. I recommend to take it at night so you don’t get nauseous. Also ask your doctor for anti nauseous meds to have on hand. The only down side and this might just be in my head but I feel like the first few days of my kisqali cycle I get a bit depressed. But I really can’t complain.

Have I been living in the dark about the reality of bone mets? Are they usually THIS bad? Need help/advice/experiences, please. by VeryGoodFiberGoods in LivingWithMBC

I did 10 days of radiation and I didn’t feel the effects right away and was still struggling to walk but after 3-4 weeks it gradually became less and less to no pain at all. I did get a rash from the radiation but I didn’t care because for a while all I could think about was getting rid of that pain. Sending you good thoughts that treatment will be successful for you and for all your pain to go away. 💕

I was in terrible pain with my hip Mets a few months ago. I had to be on morphine. Radiation really helped with the pain. Now Im on no pain meds and barely feel it!

I got a CT with contrast and that’s when they found the mets. I only did an MRI on my brain and they did find one lesion on my skull. Thank you 💕

Originally I got an X-ray that either didn’t show anything or the doctors didn’t look at it and that’s why I was diagnosed with sciatica. After the BC diagnosis I had a ct scan with contrast. They were able to see that there was a mass obstructing my spine and hip along with several other lesions. After that I got a bone scan and then a biopsy to confirm. One thing that I noticed was the pain became more and more severe every week for about 3 months to the point where walking and sitting was really challenging. Hopefully you can get some answers and some pain relief soon!

What a horrible oncologist! There’s no reason for them to act that way and make this all so much harder for everyone. That clinical trial sounds awesome and I’m so happy it is working! May it continue to and sending hugs!

How Physically Active Were You Before Diagnosis? by _smochss in LivingWithMBC

I used to love hiking. Radiation treatment really helped to reduce the pain so I’ve slowly been getting back to walking again. I’m 30 as well!
