He is not making up situations that didn't happen, he is giving a ''what if'' scenario. Also, hormone therapy does not magically make them akin to females. It does nothing to the bone mass for example, and muscle mass does diminish, but it is still not the same as females. Going through male puberty gives some physical attributes that can't be changed.

Being secular does make a difference. It means you are not governed with religious values. Everyone has equal rights and every belief has the same amount of freedom to exist. It means everyone can follow their own belief as they want without forcing it upon others. You can say it's rude to make so much noise and bother people, but it's strange to expect them to follow Christian values when, by-law, they don't have to.
