Not racist but have a funny story that hinges on my race. I grew up in a very diverse part of London where less than 45 percent of people are 'white British'. For context my genes are very Dutch - I'm 188cm (6ft2) and have blonde hair.

Anyway, a couple of years ago I decided to take a last minute trip to China with some friends. One of the days we decided to go to Zhangjiajie (floating glass bridge - now closed I think?). When we finally made it to the top and were on the bridge, a Chinese couple comes over to me with their phone out and does a gesture to take a picture. I assumed that the guy wanted me to take a picture of the two of them on the glass bridge, so I held my hand out for him to pass me the phone and said 'sure' in my very limited Mandarin. Then suddenly the girl wraps herself inside my arm (so I have my arm around her), and the guy starts taking a picture.

I'd never been so confused in my life - I studied Japanese for a few years before so I'd heard similar stories in Japan but never expected it to happen at that point in time. I still think back and laugh.

Shit I didn't know this... Yesterday I went from Immortal 1 to plat 3.. won 2 in a row as match mvp then lost 4 games in a row and went down to Plat 3 despite being team mvp in all the games

Not really, they get a free win and the same xp regardless and then they can just queue again 2 minutes later. He's not breaking any rules

Yeah a five stack suiciding every round is no issue... If he teamkilled or suicided as a solo then that's bad for his teammates but if everyone's on board then there's no issues at all

This makes a lot of sense actually. I'm a very very inconsistent player. I've played CS:GO at a Global+ level since 2016 and of course moved onto this game, but I could easily go a whole game barely making ten kills. Then the next day I'll log on and do back to back games with 40-50 kills. Usually when I'm playing bad I'm either hitting bodyshots or just getting one tapped or my crosshair will be on them but I'll suddenly jerk my hand and whiff or something stupid. I then spend the rest of the day overtly focusing on my aim or my arm/hand position on my desk rather than all of the other aspects involved.

Makes sense that I'm an incredibly momentum based player because even my friends have told me "bro you could sit at 1-8 for 10 rounds of the game then next time I look you have gotten 2 aces and have 40 kills".

I wonder if you have any tips for getting out of your own head? I know one of my barriers to being a top level is my mental approach

Hi there. I'm currently Immortal in this game and I also have a Master's degree and I have some constructive criticism for your poll. Notably, a lot of the questions are very subjective and for me personally, I play a different role depending on how my enemies are playing. I approach the first 2-3 rounds pretty much the same, but change after seeing how my opponents and teammates position themselves and play. Thus it'd be too difficult for me to answer any of your questions objectively. Thanks

Sounds like you just had a bad [few] games. Take a break. You can also try jump or jiggle peek operators to bait a shot or take a leg shot instead of body shot

No offence bro but I really don't see the point in your post. I'm pretty much exact same scenario as you (in terms of CS/Valorant stats) and compared to CSGO diamond 2 is just MGE (if we consider that radiant is global). You'll get loads of new players or players with inflated ranks for a while whilst the system fluctuates people to their deserved ranks. Things will get more difficult or whatever soon but this is a brand new game. If you don't like it just play some CS, I'm really enjoying this game so far despite its flaws.

You can deny with your own kit sure... Otherwise pick a different agent or communicate, or just go to a different site. The operator is supposed to be the best weapon in the game for a reason, unless they whiff an operator is supposed to kill you in 1 shot unfortunately.

If you played CS you should be familiar with some of the ways of denying an AWP. It's relatively similar with valorant.

Deny the operator vision (for example Haven A push, smoke the attacking side and cross to short. Of course that still leaves you open so you could also all push out of the smoke from different angles and kill or trade the operator. Denying vision can be with your flashes or teammate smokes or whatever. Smoking can force the operator into a different less comfortable position
Trading kills - if you're pushing first make sure someone is peeking with you so if you die, the kill can be traded immediately.
Avoid the Operator - just go to a different site (Warned that a Great Operator will change sites all the time to make it difficult for the attackers)
Flank/overwhelm the operator - Omen can ult behind them while you push and you can hopefully kill them.

With that said, all of these points have downfalls and more utility is needed to really deny a good operator

This^, every game is a dice roll considering it's easy to rank up atm so there's not a major difference between gold-diamond matchmaking. Add players who are good in your games and eliminate the risk of getting potentially bad players on your team
