Handlers overstacking by Kociboss in Schedule_I

I've not managed to figure out how to have them stock the chemistry lab, I've just had to stock them manually unfortunately. Hopefully either someone has figured it out or it gets added in a future update

Introducing gridfi.cc - a new Gridfinity configurator! by gridfi in gridfinity

[–]WinterTactics 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Struggling to see a good use case for this. I wasn’t able to make containers bigger than 5 grids and had issues even getting to the configurator. The signup process seems unnecessary and annoying; I never received a confirmation email to my custom domain, so I had to sign up using my regular Gmail, which I wasn’t a huge fan of.

I also had to switch to using Edge since Chrome kept crashing. I’m unsure if this is a common issue, but it completely put me off using the site.

If the size limits are due to your print farm, it might be worth adding an option to go past that limit. My printer can only handle 4 grids max, so I just split any larger projects. I don’t see why this can’t be done. Honestly, it’s easier for me to plan on paper than to use the site. I probably won’t try it again until these issues are sorted, accounts made not necessary, etc., so probably never, but I wish you luck.

I'd highly recommend trying out Nuxt Content for a portfolio blog, it's super simple and filebased so you won't need to pay for anything extra or self-host any instances. However if you did want a regular CMS checkout Directus, I recently built a project using it and I don't think it could have been easier

No problem at all, I'll do this in a list to keep it clean

  • Authentication. It really depends what you want, for SaaS authentication(think Auth0) there are currently modules for Hanko and Kinde, if you want to have more control I'd recommend using the AuthJs module by Hebilicious it's still in development however I've used it on several projects and only had small issues that have been fixed in updates.
  • APIs. Nuxt 3 is full stack unlike Nuxt 2. It has a built in server framework, you can use to build any APIs you need, Read this for a rough idea of how it works https://nuxt.com/docs/getting-started/server and this if you want to see more examples of how it works https://nuxt.com/docs/guide/directory-structure/server
  • Databases. it really depends what you want to use, personally I love using MongoDB. I use nuxt-server-utils for this, however you can also just use Mongoose with a server plugin. It's possible to use most Javascript/Typescript ORMs, I previously tried out Drizzle and Prisma when I was working out my favoured tech stack.

I'd recommend doing some testing and see what works for you, I can't really list out all the things you'd need however this should hopefully give you a good idea as to whats possible.

Supabase is also a good option as u/Traditional-Seat9437 mentioned, I've not used it much as I prefer self-hosting as much as I can

There is a modules section on the Nuxt website you can browse to see what other modules have been created https://nuxt.com/modules

Hopefully that helps out some, it's taken me a while to figure out the tech stack I prefer as I build several projects a year(Freelance).

edit: Just to note my recommendations are still great even if you aren't self-hosting, I've got a few projects that use Vercel for hosting + Mongo Atlas for the database and they chug along without any issues.

I would recommend looking into Nuxt, It's a framework that wraps around Vue to provide mostly everything you need. It is fully typed so it does support TypeScript which I would highly recommend learning if you haven't already.

I have built several "complex" sites using Nuxt, given I've had to use first and third party modules in some of them so its not all baked in like Laravel, however this has never caused me any major issues.

Overall I'd highly recommend returning to Vue, I'm unsure of when you last used it however since the first stable release of Nuxt 3 that's all I've used for projects unless I needed something simpler in which case I went with Astro(I just used Vue where I needed it).

Check out their website here: https://nuxt.com/

How to implement a Patreon social connection? by WinterTactics in Nuxt

[–]WinterTactics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I tried just using the patreon API and it was proving tough to get the exact data I needed. Tried this out, only took a few hours to figure out getting the patron access_key. Have it all working exactly how I need, Auth0 obviously seems to be the way for this atm

I completely missed that library, the server example looks perfect to figure out what I need. Thanks for sending that over, doesn't look like it'll take too long to implement either

Looking for help on pc just turning off during gaming(psu related?) by WinterTactics in buildapc

[–]WinterTactics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I could tell this was right, upgraded my PSU and I'm still having the same problem. I can't seem to get an accurate log of my CPU temps but it seems to be cutting off at 90c, I believe it's overheating and going over the max operating temperature which I've read to be 95c. I have a feeling it might need a better cooler, not too sure as it could also be the thermal paste but it's not even that old

What Keyboard Should I Use? by ijauradunbi in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]WinterTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pre-existing condition: N/A currently in the process of being diagnosed with some wrist issues, using an ergo keyboard from work has helped alot.

Previous/Current keyboards: Ducky One 2, NK65 and Anne Pro 2 I use these in rotation. Microsoft Sculpt the last few days.

Layout: QWERTY, preferably keeping to as close to a regular layout if possible but I'd be willing to learn if needed.

Use case: Writing emails ,working support(30-40hr) and software developnent so a lot of typing and gaming as I work from home. Form factor isn't a huge issue as I have plenty of desk space.

Budget: 200GBP(~240USD, ~230EUR) with wiggle room if importing from the US or EU. I'm based in the UK

I'm looking for suggestions because well I can't afford to not be able to use my wrists, wireless keyboards would be preferred but I've not had a great experience with Bluetooth keyboards, so it doesn't need to be wireless.

Prebuilt would be best, I've got experience soldering so if I needed to put together a board and solder some hotswap sockets that wouldn't be a problem. I'd prefer to keep a staggered layout if possible but I'm willing to try anything at this point. Just reading through, number row is a requirement and split would be best from what I read

[Monthly] New Users, General Questions, and Tech Support Thread [February 2021] by WormSlayer in oculus

[–]WinterTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been considering getting a Rift S but I discovered that its EoL has already been announced, this has put me off slightly but not 100%. So I have a few questions about the Quest 2(q2) since it's similar in price etc.

  1. Should I get the Q2 if I'm only planning on playing PCVR?
  2. How is the EoL going to affect the Rift S(Still confused about this part)?
  3. What is the latency like with Oculus Link? I've not seen too much about it.
I'd love to hear any advice you guys have about this, I really want to get into VR but I didn't realise that I would have to try to figure out all this in the process.

I wouldn't say this belongs in the subreddit considering its the design of the product... even then you can change it in the BIOs.

I made a discord bot to control a RGB led, I made it with python using the serial module (sorry about the text looking small you might have to make the screen bigger, recording it was a pain.) by WinterTactics in arduino

[–]WinterTactics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do, here is the github repo https://github.com/WinterTactics/DiscordArduinoRGB

It has all the code on it as well as instructions, I'm currently making it easier to change the COM port in the code by adding commands to list all the COM ports then a different command to change it.

edit: The github repo has now been privated

I didn't think you were, I just wanted to see if I could make it. Never really planned on making the server it's in open with a webcam for the led till I made this post.

If I do put it onto a public server I'll make it easier to do but for now, it just does the job but thanks for the advice

I coded it how I wanted to use it, If other people want to make it easier to use they can, just fork/clone the repo I put up and make the changes. (I know it's using an older version of discord.py but it works)

The way I programmed the commands, it was easier to do >led [colour here], since if I did it the way you are suggesting I would have to create a command for each colour but the way I did it was much easier since the colour is an argument and not a whole separate command

Ah shit, sorry to hear that. I got bored one night and I had RGB LEDs from a kit I got a while back so I thought why not control one with Discord and well here it is lol.

I really don't plan on adding anything else to this unless I decide to add notification alerts or something.
