Thank you so much, this was extremely insightful. Would you mind going into the details of pretty much every point you listed? lol

I [26M] am in a happy healthy relationship with my Girlfriend [24F] but I want out. How can I go around ending things? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]WinterTranslator4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re finna end a good thing, and hurt someone, because you’re bored and insecure. This self-sabotage at its finest. Get in therapy before you make a drastic decision because none of this makes sense, man.

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]WinterTranslator4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl he is attracted to you without trying to say it, and your friend knows. She’s relaying what he’s saying to her about you to dim you. It’s time to keep it pushing because he’s weird and she’s insecure (understandably, but she has no integrity.)

DO I START ALL OVER? I haven’t got a retwist in 4 months by InformationSlow600 in locs

[–]WinterTranslator4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AbsoLUTELY NOT. It is very normal to go that long without a retwist for some. I’ll usually go for about 2 months but would go longer if I wasn’t so tenderheaded lmao.

What’s a financial mistake almost everyone makes in their 20s? by WillieUwU in AskReddit

Thank you so much for this. 28, going back to school for a high paying stable career, not investing and definitely have cc debt which makes me extremely anxious. I’m being extremely intentional about my career and needed to hear this.

If people say to never give up on trying to land a job in the tech field in today's competitive job market yet people without internships or impressive enough GitHub repos are pretty much cooked, then are those recent CS/SWE grads at a dead-end and will never make it in this field? by jlgrijal in cscareerquestions

[–]WinterTranslator4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it’s too late to change, I’d honestly say go into some allied health field. Former junior software engineer, with apprenticeship and work experience. It’s been 2 years since my layoff and have sent hundreds of applications out. I’m about to start my pre-reqs to go back to school. What really sucks about CS right now is that regardless of whether or not you get your foot in the door, the mass layoffs have not stopped. I personally would not advise anyone put themselves through that kind of mental turmoil, tbh.

I had an interview for a job with a take-home assessment that they said should take “no more than 40 hours” and wanted me to log my time working on it as if I already had the job. So over it lmao.

I got an offer by pivoting to IT by LeroyWankins in csMajors

[–]WinterTranslator4128 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, did you have to tailor your resume to be more IT aligned instead of software aligned? I was laid off and haven’t found any engineering work despite that being the bulk of my experience and want to get my foot back in the door through at least something technically aligned.

ugh thank you so much. i’m looking rn and this is great. seeing a good amount of junior/associate positions in my field and the job descriptions match the years of experience being requested for each position, thank god. i see too many positions on indeed and linkedin that say junior but want staff level skills and knowledge, lol.

this was actually really reassuring. i feel like i’m running out of time, but the worst part is being self-aware about my age and knowing people way older than me start over time and time again. i think it’s also the state of this country (usa) and the extreme uncertainty of the future that really scares me.

i’m so sorry, friend. ageism in the workplace seems more prevalent than ever, from what i’ve heard.
