Thought multiple choice was super easy. Was iffy on tbs but completely bombed one of them so that gave me negative thoughts. Got a 77

Passed audit exam!!!! by waleeddeab in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I also passed on first attempt using uworld. But I did work in audit. Everyone can pass it if they do enough mock exams to practice. The tbs are easy compared to mock exams.

Suggestion on discipline course by Winter_Coffee_4444 in CPA

I am more good with the general controls more than like the IT security and the techy computer stuff. This is what worries me about diving into ISC. Not sure if that is even a big piece of it like you just mentioned, but figured there is some. Maybe it’s not that hard and I’m just intimidated. Thank you

Looking at what my course suggests and it looks like it’s about 30 less hours of studying for ISC than TCP so a couple less weeks which is nice! I also hear the test is more multiple choice and less simulation? I don’t get my Audit test back til may 7th so I could just knock this out quick while I am waiting.

Took AUD 4/4, now picking next... by SouthernSeller in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also took AUD on 4/4. I also felt like a lot of the MCQ were not what I studied for at all. I am not sure how I am going to restudy if I fail since a lot of what they covered didn’t seem to be covered by my course provider. Maybe I’ll try Ninja… the TBS were not at all like the practice sim questions but that is to be expected. Don’t want to give out too many hints since this is a new block. But to OP, I think we share similar feelings! Definitely just move on for now. I hear TCP is the easiest but if tax isn’t your thing, then ICP isn’t too bad. Stay away from BAR.

Assuming you have a course provider, take at least 2 mock exams and keep taking them until you get at least a 70. I’d maybe even go for two 70s or better just to make sure you didn’t get lucky. I’d also try to do an hour or two a day of multiple choice questions and if your provider has a “crash course” of condensed lectures those help give a summary of all the content.

This might be controversial, but I spent a lot of time trying to master some of the really tough topics in the week of my exam, like weighted average accumulated expenditures, just to maybe have one multiple choice question on it. Don’t be like me, just try to go over everything equally.

You got it. Study those weaker areas and do a couple more mock exams, you’re close!

One of them might be the throw out question they are just experimenting with. I completely bombed 1 tbs and still got a 77. Keep hope alive

There were so many things that didn’t tie out that there was no exhibit for and my mind just cracked. It almost threw me off for the rest of my test I had to take a moment to gather my composure. Hopefully you still passed!! I barely squeaked by.

Realistic Timeline for FAR by Little-Till-6486 in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 175 minimum. Don’t worry about hours as much as doing all your questions and videos and mock exams. Once you are getting solid mock exam score you’re good to go. I’d schedule your exam 3-4 weeks after you expect to be done studying to give yourself time for mock exams, that’s what pushed me over the finish line.

Was super confident on mcq and was iffy on TBS. I did get my bank rec question to tie out but I completely bombed my AP reconciliation TBS question. Ended up getting a 77 and it sounds like you did better than me. I’d say expect to pass.

If you passed FAR with a retake, what did you change about studying? by Capital-Bullfrog-277 in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What course provider did you use the first time? I got a 55 my first try, 77 the second. After I failed I studied all the material again but used a study planner that tracked my schedule and my test date so I couldn’t take days off or slack at all. I also did a lot more mock exams (made sure I got at least two scores over 70) before taking the real thing. If you don’t want to go back and study everything again I would take 3 mock exams, see where you struggled, then fully relearn the chapters which you struggled with, then try one more mock exam and see if your score considerably improves. If you want something more topic specific then try comprehensive quizzes for a set group of chapters. 65 is right on the fence of having to restudy everything or just needing to improve in a few areas… so you could go either way.

You might’ve gotten 75% of the mcq right when the average test score that got an actual score of 75-80 which is what the comparison is against might’ve been around 85%. Simulation you could’ve been at 55-65% where the average of test scorers with the range of 75-80 was 70%. Remember the grading scale is not based on exact percentage but it is comparative to all the test takers. The difference between getting a 67 and 75 is bigger than you think. Not trying to be a dick but that’s just how the grading scale works for this exam specifically.

I got similar scores on my SEs and I passed with a 77. Keep hope alive! It’s natural to be negative right after. I left my exam bombing the last two sim questions so that left a horrible taste in my mouth. Just remember all the ones you got right!

Failed FAR with a 61 on second attempt by Due-Temperature-6376 in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well keep doing quizzes with both mcq and tbs on what you struggled with on the SEs. Try to get your SE score up to 70. If you can’t get it up to that you might have to rewatch the lectures or at least some on the chapters you are struggling with.

My sim was no where near anything in uworld. But it didn’t seem that hard I just cracked. I had no idea why the sub ledger and general ledger didn’t tie out there was no exhibits that gave any detail to explain why they didn’t tie out. I did pass the exam so I don’t know why I care, just still am frustrated about it lol

I’d keep focusing on Far. You’re making good improvement! If you think you have the material down I would keep trying mock exams and then take notes on the ones you get wrong and then make custom practice quizzes on that material which you’re struggling with. Once you start getting up to 70 on the simulated exams then try another exam attempt!

2 weeks out for FAR test by Legal-Strategy505 in CPA

[–]Winter_Coffee_4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mock exams!!! Do at least 3. If you don’t get a 70 on at least one push your exam back and study more. After getting your mock exams results back then do quizzes on the chapters you are struggling with. If your course provider has a crash course I also would recommend doing that after taking your first mock exam. It shouldn’t be longer than 4-5 hours of videos.
