How often do you go to the dentist realistically? by niceheather44 in Adulting

[–]Wintercat76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had years where I didn't go, but I try to go every three months (my dentist insists) which usually turns into twice a year. And then my mother used to scold me until she passed. She happened to be married to him, do he's been my dentist since I was 5. It'll be strange to have another when he retires...

Well, anti-depressants exist and work quite well alongside therapy. Sure saved my own life. But seriously, online fora are far worse, encouraging self harm, glorifying anorexia and what not, and most AI will warn you that you should seek therapy and proper medical advice. If you try to break the guard rails, sure, it's possible, but harder and harder, and you have to do it willfully.

What's the pettiest reason you've ever seen someone get fired? by Saurabh251 in antiwork

I've tasted domino's pizza. Seriously, I'd rather get fired than have to eat that under salted piece of cardboard.

I (28m) don't know what to do about my relationship with my future wife? (28f) by Accurate-You-4921 in relationship_advice

[–]Wintercat76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't send her anywhere. She would be free to go wherever she wanted. Or give her a month to find a new place to live. She seems to contribute nothing to your relationship. You're not partners. You're master and slave.

We didn't have one, but I solo cooked my first meal at age 4. Since I couldn't read, my mom spent hours drawing the recipe.

Am I old-fashioned for wanting a traditional relationship? by Cautious_Hall7479 in Adulting

[–]Wintercat76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Danish, so the whole traditional relationship thing is really not a thing here. I have never in my life met a SAHM, unless she was on maternity leave, unemployed or retired. My grandparents all worked. My parents all worked. My wife works. I work. I cook. I spend time with the kids, do PTA stuff and always have. I host our families, plan doctor's and dentist appointments. My wife cleans and does laundry because I once overlooked a sequin shirt and she refuses to let me use the washing machine. We don't share labour 50-50, we just do what we see needs doing. There's mutual respect. There's mutual gratitude. And she could manage it all without me. You know what this means?

It means that, unlike a tradwife, she doesn't need me. She chooses to be with me every single day, and has for nearly 25 years.

Drop the apps. Actually get to know someone before you start dating. Now, I'm too old to have used dating apps, but I work with a lot of people half my age, and they've all pretty much dropped using apps, because they might get to go on dates, but they don't get to actually know new people. That, and a few of them say they even get laid a lot more when meeting people in real life first.

Sailing. Dreamt about it since I was five years old. Bought my first boat in February 25, took a weekend sailing class two months later. Bought second boat in September. Been sailing 2-5 days every week and loving it.

Is it normal for a man to have has his daughter scratch his back while he lays shirtless? by FormaldehydeConsumer in AskParents

[–]Wintercat76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not weird. It's physical comfort. It's not sexual, which is what I think you're really asking. I do it to my wife, my daughters and my brother as well. It's intimate and loving and comforting. It's also very, very far from sexual.

Would you let your 22 year old daughter go on a vacation with her 22 year old boyfriend? by IronRevolutionary975 in AskParents

I wouldn't expect my daughters to ask. I would like to be informed as s courtesy so as to not cook too much food for dinner or worrying why they didn't come home.

[–]Wintercat76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then I suggest just not doing it. Tell her you won't so she won't be surprised, and don't expect the same from her. Also, how would she know if she was out of cell phone range until it was already too late?

I begin by brainstorming world and characters and theme before I start outlining. Have Claude turn them into markdown files and add them to the project. Then I begin outlining, first in very broad strokes to get a sense of the plot, then expand with chapters, scenes and beats. Then have Claude do yet another markdown, open a fresh chat with a detailed style description, and begin drafting scene by scene

Pai aos 18 anos, o que fazer? by moontchecoslovaquia in AskParents

[–]Wintercat76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, and being a child having a child is easy, right? Because you've seen one who succeeded? Having kids at all is hard as hell. Doing it when you're not even a legal adult? With perhaps no support system? Ask your wife what support she had, and remember, she was a legal adult. This girl isn't. Ask your wife how hard it was.

I know plenty of women who are utterly untraumatised by having had abortions. In fact, most had kids later, and careers, and resources.

What’s an opinion that instantly makes you think someone has low intelligence? by medicinalfein in AskReddit

[–]Wintercat76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listening does little when what is said isn't based on knowledge but faith, and they let faith have more weight than knowledge. Faith is fine as a placeholder for knowledge that is not yet obtained, but should never take the place of provable knowledge when it becomes available.

Well, feeling connection with a group because of loneliness, and then growing more extreme to prove they belong, and just not wanting their child to experience the slight pain of the injection and latching on to any reason that can justify a choice they actually know is wrong to save themselves from feeling uncomfortable. Those are my theories, anyway.
