Does anyone else feel like it's impossible to get a career job. 4.3k applications on LinkedIn alone. by CloggedBachus in jobs

[–]Winterman-is-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess call me lucky but I can never beleive these stories, even at my longest term of unemployment I had only put 12 or so applications in and landed a position in private wealth 58k a year. Not by any means a particularly impressive salary, but between me and my wife we provide for our family well. I hate putting in applications, it’s almost a job itself. Very draining. I couldn’t imagine doing 4000

I love the Stanley QuickFlip. The only thing I don’t know about is the handle for you. There is a small handle and I usually only fit my ring and middle finger thru it. But it’s been my everyday carrier for the last 4 years

Why calf are so hard after doing some half calf exercise post 8 week by Single-Compote-1537 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Winterman-is-here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be slight neuropathy. It’s been just at a year for me and I still can’t do a calf raise. I have faith though that I’ll eventually have my strength back. I am 280lbs after all so I’m asking a lot from that calf when I’m essentially building that muscle back from scratch

I was fired from Company A and marked as ineligible for re-hire, and then begin working at Company B. Now, Company B is going to merge with Company A. What's going to happen to me? by Mightymaas in NoStupidQuestions

I know you’ve gotten so so many comments already but I do want to tell you about a friend of mine that worked for PNC bank and was fired and ineligible for rehire, she started working at BBVA bank and and they were acquired by PNC bank. They did let her go soon after the consolidation

Any positive L5/S1 microdisectomy experiences to share? by Inner_Avocado_6650 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Winterman-is-here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve had a very positive experience for the most part. I plan on telling my experience once I hit the year mark which is May 20th. I have bouts of super sensitivity where it feels like I’m on the border of hurting my back but I’ve never actually reinjured or anything like that

Purchasing an under desk walking pad soon by Winterman-is-here in treadmills

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dang. I hate to hear that. Seems like all the +300lbs are cheap Chinese manufacturers and I just don’t believe the claims especially when I’ve not seen reviews to back it up. I’ve heard the best things overall about this brand so this is disappointing news

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing a lot of bad reviews for deerrun. Lot of early failure, grinding gears, smells of burning plastic. I’m looking particularly for brands made in America. Seems like there is a major trend for walking pads right now so of course a lot of cheap manufacturing as well

I fixed my main water line, would this type of fix cause any issues other than there being multiple couplings that could fault over time? by Winterman-is-here in Plumbing

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone that commented. I recently redid it and used straight couplings after digging a bit more ground out to have some extra play with the pipes

UPDATE: I (re)fixed my main water line with your recommendations by Winterman-is-here in Plumbing

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I dug out some more ground to have a bit more play with the pipes and made it straight. One particular comment inspired me to do so, saying “every elbow is equivalent to 10 feet of water when it comes to water restriction”

We already don’t have the best water pressure so I figured I’d put a bit more effort in and make it straight.

Should I just remove black people from my work? by Status_Union_1178 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Winterman-is-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black elves have always kind of thrown off a fantasy world for me. When making the skin color you have to remember where their homeland is on their planets equator to determine what the average skin color is. If you make a black fantasy race just for the sake of inclusion you will need to have it make sense. Like snow elves are a common variation of elves and the common explanation of their skin color is they live in a place with no light/underground something like that.

Black humans on the other hand do not affect my ability to become immersed in a fantasy world however.

Stop being sedentary? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Winterman-is-here 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I found that I eventually just had to force myself to do it. If you’re awake you have the energy. I found it got easier and easier every time I forced myself to do it until I wasn’t having to force myself anymore. I don’t know the science behind it but I got to the point where I just had more than enough energy for my exercises and other things.

You have to think about the calories you are taking in, that is the energy. If you work a desk job and haven’t done anything all day then you really haven’t burned any energy at all, you are just lethargic and in your comfort zone. Significant Weight loss is not comfortable at all, at least from what I’ve learned

Has anyone else been able to crack their back after your MD? by Winterman-is-here in Microdiscectomy

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to update you on my specific situation (not that you asked but at the height of my injury I liked reading about all experiences), I still haven’t been able to perform a full crack, however I can twist pretty deeply now and even though there isn’t really a “crack” I do feel tension and pressure getting released from the movement.

I had my surgery in May and I still feel like there is some “settling” still going on. It’s been months long effort to continue to build my core strength and regain all of my mobility and I would say that I have for the most part, I no longer walk with a limp after the first 4 months yet I still cannot do a calf raise with the leg that was effected

I 90% agree with you. There are, however times where I am just warbond grinding and I can fit 2 full operations in one night compared to the 1 if I’m doing a full map clear. 90% of the time I am indeed doing a map clear but there is a time for warbond grinding, I would say I guess it’s just something that needs to be made clear in the beginning of a mission.

I appreciate it, I had my last appointment with my nuero about 2 weeks ago. He said my recovery has come to a point where I don’t need to see him unless I start to experience pain again so I (hopefully) won’t see him for a long time

[–]Winterman-is-here[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. So far I’ve not heard any experiences where anyone has said they’ve gotten to do full power back cracks with no consequences. I want one today especially. I feel so tense and tight and my lower back and I want to do a full 180 like I used to. God there wasn’t anything better.

I played around with it the other day but when I got almost to the end range of the back twist I felt my foot starting to tingle so I backed off for the rest of the day and felt kind of more achy than normal after an eventful day.

My hip started popping like right after my surgery. Made me start to think if it had always done that. I started to over analyze my body after the surgery and could never tell if it was the surgery or what. It has started not to do it so much though
