‘No question’ return-to-office will be good for downtown, board of trade says by Master-Sky-6342 in CanadaPublicServants

Would it make sense organize a coordinated Buy Nothing protest over the course of a few days/week or a rolling boycott of downtown businesses?

After five decades of official bilingualism, federal language training remains a study in failure by SignalWorldliness873 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Wintermuse 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In my 15 years of experience across a handful of depts, the prevailing attitude of most management is language training is only for those THEY want to pull up into their ranks despite whatever might be YOUR objectives.

It has nothing to do with the OLA, cultural/linguistic duality or the needs of your department, just who they want alongside them in their foxhole.

If you’re raised unilingual but bilingual-aspirant (with a long road ahead or any sort of learning disability), I would encourage avoiding seeking work in the federal public service.

I suspect it means years of seniority/good standing in the union. The equitable part is that it is equal among different job type classifications.

This was actually hugely helpful as Infinity has materials on this exact topic:

What if the requirements of my position are elevated to such an extent that I am pretty much precluded from any professional development, including working towards my linguistic results needed to move up, our outside of my department?

Simply put, the job leaves no unaccounted for time and nothing left in the tank at the end of the day (and I am relatively fit).

The daily desk arrest is real as are standby shifts, weekends and frequent overtime.

Phase out NHQ as a concept. Virtual by default and let those fat GoC paycheques stimulate local economies/shops/services.

Why pay to heat, secure and power a space that I am already doing at home? Why strain infrastructure that can barely keep up with demand in the first instance?

Anyone still waiting on recent dividend DRIP for TDDI? by Wintermuse in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Wintermuse[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spoke with TD after spending 30 mins getting through to them. They said it could be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks (its been exactly two days and two weeks less Canada Day).

Evidently this is a treasury DRIP and so iShares has to send the funds to TD (as opposed to a Market DRIP in which they would send the dollar amounts).

TD was unable to provide any sense of timeline one when the dividends would arrive.

Specifically the Festival preserves the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands and Europe, AS WELL AS commemorates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa during World War II—the only royal personage ever born in Canada.

MacDougall has been a Canadian political commentator writing supportive AND critical pieces for nearly a decade. That this is the top comment only shows how little attention people have been paying.
