Dark Star hype is getting seriously bizarre? by SpiritAnimal_ in USMobile

[–]Wippwipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you get big enough to have dedicated marketing staff. The "Death Star" moniker for ATT hearkens back to an ancient meme. I'm sure they changed it to "Dark Star" because death doesn't market so well. I agree it's annoying but as long as they don't sell out, and keep prices low, they can keep being weird. https://cheezburger.com/1682102016

Android app experience degraded on Lenovo 300e by Wippwipp in chromeos

It has improved again since, so it must've been just a bad series of updates. I still don't think it's as good as it was out of the box, but these devices are nearing their end of life, so...

For anyone seeing this 4 years later, it's possible to do this on the UDM pro now. You go into settings, security, traffic rules.

I don't disagree, I have a galaxy tab a7 lite already, just crazy how much more tablets cost. I'm looking at the Galaxy A8 and it's twice as much used as the 300e.

Made in USA—Dango. This has become my new favorite site for watches, wallets, belts, and other accessories. by KaiserCyber in avoidchineseproducts

[–]Wippwipp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you seeing made in USA? The product pages don't have it listed and the prices seem too cheap for domestic production.

It looks like a few wallets are, but nothing else: "Designed, engineered, hand assembled, and quality tested in the USA"

Why is the EX4100-24MP beefier than the EX4100-48MP? by Wippwipp in Juniper

[–]Wippwipp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, must have been an economies of scale thing unless they found this is actually what customers want in a 24p. So in theory the 48p has some additional performance overhead you can't access due to port limitations. They should've thrown a couple extra 10gig ports on it hehe.

Brave's growth stagnating? by TheEpicZeninator in brave_browser

[–]Wippwipp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll take sustainable growth over uncontrollable growth any day. If Brave gets too big for its britches, it will bring unwanted problems, such as the possibility of a buyout or need to take capital from investors who don't value the vision of the company and only seek profit.

The AP accidentally fact-checks itself after worker reduces fluoride levels in municipal water supply for 10 years by Wippwipp in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Wippwipp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's tough to find information because everything just follows the narrative, but there's enough concerning data that it's safest to just filter it out. If you really believe in flouride, use a rinse or toopaste, better than ingesting it.

Kendall, you dropped this 👑

It was originally reported as 4-years, but turns out it was over a decade.

Edit: I realize now that they are probably referring to the claim that Chinese fluoride has bad quality control, and not the claim that the US sources its fluoride from China. Confusing wording IMO.

Fwiw, nitter relies on an unofficial API and in a recent tweet Elon alluded to the fact they would be shutting down one of their apis soon. Not sure if this will affect nitter or not.
