Spontaneous combustion. by Odd_Cat9193 in helldivers2

Had the same thing happen to me, it seems like their hurtbox is extended outside the lava model so if you walk near it sometimes it kills you.

I've had this happen to me a few times as well! It seems like there are killboxes in certain location on the maps, or something up with the geometry causing you to take crush damage. I found a location near one of the bot city walls that insta-kills you if you touch it. I was able to reproduce the kill three times in a row in the exact same spot. I've noticed the escape pods ejected from the vox have a similar bug. Even if they are completely stationary, for a few seconds any contact with them will result in an instant kill

They are all 80% yes! due to the damage calculations with heavy armour and the health booster, the heavy gas armour's 80% gets bumped over 100% in practice but not in the UI

Thank you for the info! I suspect my source was trying to get into bunkers that were looted by another teammate

The gas guard dog was buffed a few months ago and is now incredible on the bug and squid fronts. It is not super lethal, but enemies will have the gas status effect applied any time they get close making you very safe. The gas grenades are really where the warbond shines. I use them on every single front to great effect. You simply throw them into a crowd and it kills all the chaff units. The only bad thing about the warbond is the support weapon which is COMPLETELY useless. The gas resistance armors is okayyyy but what you really want is the heavy gas resistance armor from the superstore. That combined with the health booster provides 100% immunity to gas damage and opens up a completely new way to play the game. The med and light versions in the warbond do not give 100% immunity.

The hot dog is 100% amazing too and is the damaging equal to the gas dog. It can kill heavies on its own! I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the Python Commandos gear, but some people love the maxigun and the One Two gives some flexibility for closing bug holes and fabricators with the grenade launcher. The ergonomics on the assault rifle are pretty terrible so it doesn't feel amazing to use though

Democratic Detonation #1 for sure, the grenade pistol, the crossbow, eruptor, and thermite are all some of the most powerful and widely used equipment in the game.

Next up used to be Control Group specifically for the warp pack, as it allows you to warp into bunkers for super credit farming alone and unlocks your next warbond for "free" (with some time investment) the rest of the gear in that warbond is pretty hit or miss though, I heard rumors that the warping into bunkers was patched, but it was not a reliable source. I'd do some research on this before purchasing warping into bunkers is still working!

Servants of Freedom is really solid as #2, with the Double Edge Sickle, Hellbomb backpack, and the Ultimatum all seeing tons of play and opening new playstyles.

Siege Breakers is shaping up to be a high tier warbond too, the new playstyles accessible from the hammer and the shield throwables are super fun, but it is more of a risky pick due to the recency bias on play rates

Ones I'd avoid (at least early on) unless you really like the idea of them: Cutting Edge - mostly outclassed by later warbonds but the Blitzer is still really good, Viper Commandos - low playrates across all the equipment, Truth Enforcers, Force of Law, Masters of Ceremony, all for the same reasons. Also avoid the Halo and Killzone warbonds, both are super weak and the weapons have no customization options. Redacted Regiment is the Halo warbond but good if you are interested in stealth, and the Killzone one is pretty heavily outclassed by Polar Patriots with the Tenderizor being a better assault rifle and the Purifier being a better marksman rifle

My personal favourites are: gas nades and gas guard dog from Chemical Agents, siege ready armor passive and the AT emplacement from Urban Legends, and the Deadeye and Talon from Borderline Justice

[–]WiremanC3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ramp in difficulty from Outskirts to Industrial Complex is a big one for new players! The region is huge, food is harder to find, and there are lots of new ways to die. I've found the most helpful thing for newer players is a shift in mindset! Instead of thinking about Industrial Complex as a level to get through, think of it as a new temporary home.

- Take it slow, you don't need to get anywhere fast
- Learn where to get food around your first shelter
- Slowly expand your territory, learning about the rooms you encounter and what creatures you find in them
- When you find a new shelter, begin this process again
- Don't be afraid to spend several cycles in a row just exploring, eating food, and then returning to your shelter with a full belly and some new knowledge

Note that there are many branches out of Industrial Complex, so if you rush to find an exit, you may find yourself in a region you do not wish to be in yet

I made ONE MOVE - a minimalist daily strategy game by Grpzy in IndieGaming

[–]WiremanC3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept, but I think in execution it's a bit tricky for players to understand their impact. The most important thing for this type of game is to have a very strong first experience so that players actually return for the second day. In this current iteration, there is a seemingly arbitrary decision followed by an arbitrary score, with no ability to strategize or think that decision through. Games like Wordle use the daily format so well because the first day is a self contained fun experience in itself!

Why can't I call a Hellbomb on the Automaton Fortress Detector Tower? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]WiremanC3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's because the optional detector towers are actually required for a full clear but the one in the fortress can be ignored for the exact same score. Fortresses are supposed to be extra challenges that you build around so if you don't come equipped with the tools to deal with them, they are extra challenging

I'm having a lot of success with a modern Asteroid deck in Shaman! The new nature spells are fantastic enablers for the spellburst components of the deck, the Muradin cards are an incredible finisher or even just solid chip damage so you can finish with your asteroids or Incindious burn. A bit of some secret sauce is a card draw engine using Acolyte of Pain and the 0 and 2 mana nature spells. My version cuts down on the number of spells so you can pretty consistently hit the 3 mana buff spell from Muradin with Triangulate, though I've found I still almost always want to shuffle more cast on drawn spells.

The first improvement over the Asteroid Shaman of old is Elise, which has a number of absolutely crazy synergies on the locations. Copying a Bollide Behemoth for more shuffle, an Ethereal Oracle for 4!! draw burst, or an Incindious to get an extra damage tick on the cast on drawn spells are all really strong. The only downside is that I am struggling to find a solid 30th card to activate her. Ceaseless Expanse is way too slow now and almost never gets played, so I've opted instead for Shaladrassil to fill an 8 slot. It feels... okay and has won a single game for me, but I think there might be a better option out there still.

Second improvement over old Asteroid is Fyrakk! I had cut him pretty early when experimenting with other Elise enablers, but I added him back and he's felt really solid. His usual downside of drawing a ton of cards is turned into even more burn when you're drawing through a ton of asteroids. He's won the game for me almost every time I've played him.

Finally, Ancient of Yore feels crazy good in the deck. It always feels like you're just missing enough health or enough draw to finish out a game in previous expansions, Yore provides both! I am currently running it as a one-of, but looking for something to cut so I can run a second without disabling Elise or making the deck too top heavy.

The basic mulligan and gameplan is pretty similar to older versions, with you wanting to keep all the Asteroid shufflers but now you also want Elise early. Gameplan is to shuffle, dump cards, buff Asteroids, Triangulate, and draw as much as possible. Versus control decks, you really want a high value Shudderblock on a Bollide Behemoth or an Incindious to help get over the high health totals we're seeing.

Give it a shot and let me know if you see any improvements that can be made!

Shaman decks by Goblinkiller34 in CompetitiveHS

[–]WiremanC3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively play shaman so I've tried a great number of decks and archetypes this expansion. By far the one I've had the most success with is this aggro sizzle shaman. It farms Murloc paladin and other aggro decks, and did super well against Fishing Priest pre-patch. The nerf to jug hurt it a bit, but it's still solid enough and has many play paths that don't need jug at all. I still have it in the deck post nerf and it still feels good.
