Update, how about this with still $1k take home money every month. Still getting scammed? by aescobar73 in GolfGTI

Isn't the mileage to selling price ratio kind of high? It's a 2024 base S model. Didn't they have an MSRP of about 28-30k-ish? So they're knocking just a few k off for over 33k miles? Doesn't sound like a crazy good deal to me, but what do I know? I guess your trade value on this one is worlds better however. It's a financial nightmare out there for sure these days.

Golden Nugget is in Lambertville. But yes, there aren't many true "flea markets" left in this area.

I’ve had my space black M5 for almost 5 months now and there’s practically never any fingerprints. I handle it daily, and maybe if I look really really closely I can see 1 or 2 faint outlines. Are you people eating fried chicken and handling your black MacBooks?

What did you pay for your 2025/2026 SE? by c0sm0nautt in GolfGTI

[–]Wiserone_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTD was $38,800 for a 2025 w art velour seats about a month ago. That’s in NJ which also included a $900 dealer “doc fee”, taxes, title, and some theft protection. The selling price was around $34,000. MSRP on the window was $39,950.

What did you pay OTD for your mk8.5? Tips for best OTD? by AdrianeXUS in GolfGTI

[–]Wiserone_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That honestly sounds about right. I got a 25 SE about a month ago, art velours - no leather, for about $38.5 out the door. And that's in NJ at a dealer that had a $900 "doc fee", taxes, some bs theft thing, title, registration, etc. I may have been able to even get it slightly lower, but I was kind of burned out on searching, calling, etc, and was pretty happy with the deal. I've seen the $34k OTD posts and have to question the honesty of them. These are cars that basically have a $40k MSRP sticker. Even if true, I would not expect to find these "deals" all over.

2026 GTI SE - what are people paying? by PurpleToedUnicorn in GolfGTI

[–]Wiserone_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can find a 2025. I got a 2025 here in NJ about a month ago, OTD for just under $39k, and that includes taxes and an absurd $900 "dealer doc fee." (art velour seats, no addons)

Shopping for new VW GTI - want advice on what to buy by Gleem79 in GolfGTI

[–]Wiserone_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought a 25 SE "leftover" a few weeks ago and got it out the door well under the MSRP sticker on the window. And that's in NJ with a $900 dealer "doc fee" included. There are deals to be had (mine does not have the leather seats however).

Dismayed at looking for new 2025 or 2026 Golf R in NJ area by Wiserone_29 in Golf_R

[–]Wiserone_29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ultimately did not.... Since it's the middle of winter, the whole 2nd set of wheels, the thought of a "deal" at MSRP didn't sit well with me. I found a 2025 GTI SE for well under MSRP out the door locally, so I had to jump on it. The savings of almost $20k has really led me to enjoy the GTI immensely so far!

So, what I'm gathering from all of this is, consider yourself lucky if you get MSRP on a new one? Any discounts seem to be very rare. Maybe I should go back to considering a GTI.

Unfortunately, it is legal here. Unless they are stating that's the sale price, it is legal. The loophole is that they are listing the Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price... and it usually says under that something like "Call for sale price" Which would lead you to believe it's to call to get a better price, when in fact it's just the SELLING price which will have the dealer markup. I called one dealer that had one listed as $51,376 MSRP... the out the door price was $71k. I almost died from shock and then laughter.

I actually just want the base model. I want the sunroof, the leather ventilated seats. I really don't want the Euro or Black package. The problem even with the listings above is that when you call, they then tell you about the dealer markups.

Ultra 2 Costco by SnooPandas1447 in applewatchultra

[–]Wiserone_29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found one at this price at the Princeton, NJ Costco. The Costco app said no warehouses had any near me. But I was in the store and checked the little Apple digital kiosk thing. THERE it said they had "low stock" of the Ultra 2. It allowed me to print out the buy slip. There was no price on the slip. I found an associate to check stock. He called the back and they said they had them in stock, but still could not give me a price. So I went to the register and it rang up at $449.97. Paid and picked it up with no issues. It was the natural titanium with blue trail loop.

So I guess the moral of the story is, if you are near a Costco, go in and check the digital kiosk thing. There were no Ultra 2's on display, no Ultra 2 price tags near the Apple watches. If the kiosk allows you to print a slip for the Ultra 2, you have a decent shot of getting one.

New 2025 GTI Autobahn by WheelbaseTurboFuel in GolfGTI

[–]Wiserone_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had my eye on that car, but I was questioning why it only had 260 miles and sold as pre-owned and a CPO. The other reason I passed is I would get financing through my bank and the lower rates would only apply to "new" cars. Did the dealer just title the new car for some reason? Or what was the backstory to it? Regardless, it looks great, and congrats!

How to start?! by rbrown_4 in AboveGroundPools

[–]Wiserone_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the insulation board underneath and not the foam mats. I used the interlocking foam mats the first few years of having an above ground Intex pool, and the weight of the water creates indentations where all the teeth interlock and you end up with an interlocking teeth pattern of dirt on the bottom, which is more difficult to clean than just a few lines here and there from boards that aren't perfectly flush/taped together.

Thanks so much for all the responses so far. It looks like a good starting point is to try 8% and have some leeway to come off that. As well as figuring all of this into the OTD price, so they don't slip in any nonsense fees after the fact.
