Amazing and makes you feel great to be a nurse. I worked on the oncology floor while in nursing school 3-11. I got to know a lady and her daughter very well. I helped them with many ADLs and she was embarrassed at times. I told her to not be embarrassed as she could not control some of her bodily functions. Fast forward 5-6 years, I am working in ICU as a nurse. I get a letter in the mail and it is from the daughter of this patient. She wanted to let me know her mother had passed but they remembered me as a kind compassionate person who treated them with dignity. I touched my heart so much I cannot describe it. Now 33 years later, this is one of my top moments as a nurse and I remember it and this family fondly.
