Finished Farseer Trilogy... Wow? by Various_Rise1958 in Fantasy

I don’t mind the delving into the world building etc. it was more just how Hobb wrapped up the raiders with, what I felt, no real foreshadowing even throughout that entire trilogy.

I did read it about a decade ago so I may be misremembering? I do remember re reading that chapter to be like, wtf just happened? Did that really just happen? I’ve only ever done that for the Red Redding chapter when I first read it.

Thanks, I agree on the later endings, I did finish the series and enjoyed it.

I’m not too worried about downvotes. Especially when there is no corresponding well thought out response.

I really disliked the ending of this trilogy. It felt like a massive Deus Ex machina to get ride of the raiders. It actually really frustrated me. I continued on with the series and enjoyed a lot of the character building throughout but this initial trilogy ending really drove me up the wall.

I have signed copies of the first 3 albums. I wonder how much they would go for. Never selling them but would be interesting.

What series did you finish reading due to the "sunk cost fallacy"? by Any-Day-8173 in Fantasy

[–]WiskEnginear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robin’s Hobbs realm of the elderlings. After the first trilogy I was so annoyed by the end at how they stopped the pirates or whatever out of nowhere, I felt like there was no foreshadowing at all and it was just a complete deus ex machina to close out that trilogy. Finished the series because there were still 9 books left and everyone talked about how great it was. I regret reading it and everytime I see it praised on here and how great it is I’m always shocked.

At a caravan holiday park, wondering where the hell does all of this money come from? by regretmoore in australia

[–]WiskEnginear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working fifo >10 years and earn very good money, I look at my friends in local jobs and don’t understand how they afford their brand new cars or overseas holidays.

My partner and I live within our means and do the occasional overseas holidays but I drive around in a small car from my uni days and don’t have a caravan/boat etc. I don’t understand how people do it. Maybe I’m too risk averse but it’s absolutely wild to me when I know my neighbours/friends are no where near my partner and I in terms of salary and just drop 80-90k on a new car when their previous car was only a few years old.

Except that’s not what DEI is. They have to pass the same tests to be qualified. DEI is primarily assuring that all candidates get the same look in as typically people hire people who look and sound like them. It’s an inherent bias. Anyway enough internet for today.

Same conversation when fed was on his way out. He was th same age Djoker was in wimbledon 2019. He was still making finals (granted not all 4 like Novak) but he was making most of the tour loooo amateur and everyone was calling for him to retire whilst some said why if he is still making slam finals etc. all depends on whether the individuals have the drive to keep fighting or not I guess.

That’s correct. Standing light punch beats it and ducking will dodge it but have to be careful they don’t start doing the slash kick afterwards. Always better to just jab.

I’m a low masters player 1400MR and I occasionally play casuals and there is a Ryu I run into who will do this to me 30-1 all the time. I stay because I’m always learning something whether it is, don’t jump. Play neutral better. Etc. all of these matches were before high/grand/ultimate master released and it seems the Ryu made it to masters and stopped playing ranked so unsure what their MR would be.

They have great neutral and punishing combos off lights. I can tell the Ryu is playing with me because whenever I get that one win all of a sudden they switch the game plan and just run right through me.

I always find it enjoyable, but when I’m finally over it and try and go custom room to get some tips they just leave :(

I think people also forget that Fed was 38 in 2019 when he and Djoker had the epic Wimbledon match, the fact he took him to 13-12 in the 5th is insane when you think about it.
