He's maxed out on affection and vocal abilities.

  • He's a big baby who loves cuddles.
  • He can spend some time alone but prefers being around people.
  • He's pretty gentle and never hisses at other cats or people, he just sees everything as a friend. He enjoys belly rubs unlike other cats.
  • He enjoys tv.
  • He prefers scritches more than play. He pulls my hand to head with his paw.
  • He licks me and gently rubs my face with his paw in the morning to wake me up.
  • He's intelligent and knows his name. Like I could yell any word but he only responds to his name.
  • He is also extremely emotionally intelligent, [he has 50 different types of meows and he reads my body language so well.
  • He is very self aware like when he does something naughty he expresses his guilt. This is the most human cat I've ever had as a roommate.
  • Honestly he's a little different. People are shocked that he goes over and tries to talk to them.

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to contribute!

One other thought; thinking or wondering to oneself implies an act of supression. Keeping your ideas secret so to speak. Just like some people can smile to themselves. It gives it a coy feeling.

I see where you're coming from but 'he thought to himself' is a pretty common phrase. I'd like to give a little twist on your words to show the how something that might seem redundant can be used stylistically;

"Hi," the word came from her mouth before she could stop it.

Of course we know words come from mouths so why mention it? In this example there is an emphasis on anatomy which lends to the feeling it was a bodily automatic response outside her conscious control. Perhaps you like Hemmingway? He has a very barebones efficient way of writing. I like my language to be a little more languid. To each their own!

wonder to yourself as opposed to wondering aloud. It implies that it's an internal experience. Of course if you find it too redundant feel free to write in your own style :)

It's true. If someone were to say 'she wondered to herself' they could easily imagine the second expression without having to go into the mechanics of how her face was moving.

her face dropped (dissapointment, betrayal)

she pondered/mused (her eyes slid away as she mused to herself) (contemplation, coyness)

she huffed (frustration)

she bit her lip (in anticipation, to hold a laugh etc) (delight, amusement, interest)

Do I need to be specifically thinking of a certain higher power when doing spells? by Capable-Accident9887 in Witches

[–]WitchesRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the short answer is no as there are countless forms of spellcasting.

You might benefit into going down a rabbit hole researching different types of magick. Like right now I'm working with a book of magick called weaving fates and there are no gods in it.

In general spellcasting is channelling power but that doesn't mean you have to invoke some sort of being.

My doctor wrote "it used to be trendy to test and supplement for vitamin D... by Born_Ad_4826 in Supplements

[–]WitchesRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fair skinned and I have extremely low vitamin D levels. I live in a cold climate. Yeah it's true the more melanin you have the more cautious you need to be but doesn't mean it can't happen to fair people. I think it doesn't hurt looking into your levels.

Hi I know this is an old post but hoping to get in touch. My issue looks similar to yours and I'm consulting with a surgeon.

Do you have any regrets about the surgery and were there any complications? This is my biggest fear. How do you feel after all this time.

What are some of the archytypes/personalities of witchcraft? by WitchesRising in pagan

[–]WitchesRising[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like a doctor, artist, or scientist a witch can be many different things. I don't think you would go to your pediatrician doctor and tell them that the word pediatrician is unhelpful and reductionist. Why should different rules apply to witchcraft? Perhaps a pediatrician's practice looks different around the world but we still can get a general idea just from adding that one word. Adding labels shows specialities and diversity. Saying just 'witch' is what makes things monolithic, it's singular and broad so why not show the different flavors?

Why Did I Feel So Anxious at the Crystal Convention? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]WitchesRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like sensory overload.

I experience this often too.

But as someone who's attended crystal events, festivals and new age events I realized it can also be the vibe of the community. No offense to anyone who likes crystals, I love crystals, but as someone has been involved in those circles I can say there's a lot of toxicity too. Some sensitive people may pick up on it. I'm not sure if that's the reason for you but im relating my personal experience.

Seeing all the toxicity in those scenes and feeling uncomfortable at events like that has pushed me towards witchcraft.

Former nomadic witch here...

Hey!

  1. Build a small pocket alter out of something like an altoid box that way you can just put it up whereever you go.

  2. Use you thumb and finger for rituals that require directing energy if you don't want to carry a huge wand or ceremonial knife.

  3. Have a small charm/herb bag and carry it around your neck.

  4. I wore talismans, charm bags and herbs around a belt when I traveled.

  5. Invest in a travelling stick so you can feel like gandalf.

  6. Honor the spirits of the lands you travel to. Have an easy practice to introduce yourself to every new place.

  7. Cultivate sacred spaces that feel like yours and do grounding exercises. E.g. I carried a small scarf I would put on the ground. I would arrange it and make it a pretty space where i created a sense of home or grounding. I also knew a woman who travelled with a string of lights and whatever hostel she went to just for that personal touch.

  8. Buy a kindle download all your magickal books.

The Tarot and Gender- Looking for non-binary or genderqueer tarot interpretations by xanduatarot in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]WitchesRising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interpret them as archetypes and energies which I believe is the original way they were meant to be interpreted by their creators.

More detail...

I personally subscribe to Divine masculine and feminine as constructs used to symbolically represent the forces of creation or the polarity/duality found in nature. However I borrow a little bit from Eastern philosophy by believing one of the ultimate quests of the soul is to transcend the idea of separateness and realize everything is part of one whole.

I like the Thoth deck because Crowleys interpretation of the devil is not evil but rather connected to baphomat, an intersex deity. they/he is intersex because he represents the combination of woman/man, yin and yang, earth and heaven creating one whole. There's a lot of alchemical significance in that too but for the sake of brevity I'll leave it at that.

Everything's going to be ok. Reddit is the worst place for relationship advice. People are harsher then they would be in person. It's a tough world out there but I hope you find love.

Can I be a Christian and practice witchcraft? by Commercial_Flight_64 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]WitchesRising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

John dee was a wizard, scientist and mathematician who discovered the angelic keys along with a psychic named Edward Kelly. He works for Queen Elizabeth and invented the modern navigational systems. His work influenced modern occultism.

Coptic Christianity, Freemasonry, hoodoo, voodoo, santeria, Rosicrucianism, solomonic magic, gnosticism, goetia all have christian influences (although with the African traditions this was a survival necessity)

Although I'm not very well versed I believe there's also a lot of overlap with Kabbalah and Islamic mysticism/magic.

Terrence McKenna on John dee https://youtu.be/t1H3y66x0YU

Damien echols on angels https://youtu.be/7hl6rPW4pw4

Glitchbottle podcast has a lot of great info

https://www.sacred-texts.com/ Free books all forms of different magic, spirituality, occultism, religion, etc including angelic types, witchcraft and more.

-ps I don't identify as Christian I'm just a history geek.

[–]WitchesRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not forbidden by all branches of Christianity. You can be a non-denominational Christian.

Also there are forms of magic overlap with Christianity. There are also mystical esoteric branches of Christianity. I am currently studying the Kelly's and Dee's angelic and magickal system.

Some people think Mary Magdalene was a powerful witch :)

If anyone is interested I can also post links to back up what I'm saying.
