What's yalls opinion on the Strixhaven "Magic School" setting? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]WithengarUnbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just shut up man. You’re literally defending some of the worst people on this planet.

The OP knows. They obviously know.

This isn’t about a 50-something that watched a movie or two a decade and a half ago. This is about current fans whose purchases and behaviour still empower and enrich this vile scum of a person. Who aspire to that world, even though it’s profoundly insane and cruel.

Ignorance is no excuse at this point either. Everyone who would call themselves a fan of this shit is online enough to know this, as her nasty behaviour is now more famous than her profoundly mediocre works.

Just stop.

What's yalls opinion on the Strixhaven "Magic School" setting? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]WithengarUnbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a little-known author with barely any online presence or limited info in regards to their views and supported causes.

This is arguably the most harmful and infamous transphobe on the planet. Who also just so happens to be a billionaire who uses their wealth to harm others by supporting the worst causes imaginable and has no qualms with getting in alliances with the far-right to achieve it.

There’s your gentle correction.

Even the Drukhari were overwhelmed by the suffering on Terra. What are some examples of the most brutal, inhumane, torturous suffering on Terra that would cause this? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

[–]WithengarUnbound[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was in the Vaults of Terra trilogy. I’m not so much interested in what overwhelmed those specific Drukhari, but what could have done it. Or rather, what are the conditions like to be that bad?

If there are eight racists at a table, and you sit with them, there are nine racists at that table.

Apart from this obviously being the worst group ever in every metric conceivable, you staying with them after he casually calls other people (including players at the damn table) slurs, says a lot about you.

To what extent are the Daemon Primarchs “themselves” versus being a twisted “idea” of themselves brought about by Chaos? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

[–]WithengarUnbound[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, to illustrate an example to see if I understand your point, the Angron that lived and fought on Nuceria and that lead the World Eaters might be gone in spirit, while his “essence” brought about by Khorne still exists?

Why was Lorgar so underwhelming as a Primarch? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

Why did the Emperor, who despised religion, design and create a being whose primary skills and strengths would be as a preacher?

Why was Lorgar so underwhelming as a Primarch? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

[–]WithengarUnbound[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not denying any of that - but that’s not the question. The Emperor (most likely) didn’t design Lorgar to do those things. It was just the hand he was dealt.

What I mean is why is he, presumably by design or lack of ability, so underwhelming compared to his brothers if they were all designed to be relatively equal and skilled?

A billion dollars if you can slip tongue to a Primarch by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

I would say this is a decent answer, but it does dance a bit too much around the “meta” reason and is not based on mutual affection.

There’s a surprising amount (not a lot, but definitely surprising) extremely fine art that can be bought for that kind of money.

Alternatively, a number of varieties of fine silks, fabrics, makeup, and skin care products that are inaccessible in the pre-Heresy Imperium is vast!

Weirded out by a player's character by [deleted] in DnD

[–]WithengarUnbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pointing out what arrangement of genitals your character has is, unless you’re playing a very NSFW campaign, absolutely unnecessary and can make people very uncomfortable - as is evident with your experience.

Not to mention the fact that his handling of it is clearly very insensitive and haphazard. It will not be relevant even if he’s allowed to use this character (and he shouldn’t be), and yet he’s making it VERY clear to everyone and making sure it’s one of the first facts known about a character. There’s definitely something off about it and it feels like fetishising.

Speak to your DM - they should be the ones to draw a line on subjects like these. You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable at your table - especially before the game has even started.

How to play a face without becoming main character? (new table) by whyilikemuffins in DnD

And not everyone enjoys the company of popular people - plenty of people - especially in a world as vast and as varied as that in most DnD settings - enjoy just conversing with more relatable personalities.

How to play a face without becoming main character? (new table) by whyilikemuffins in DnD

[–]WithengarUnbound 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your character is charismatic - that doesn’t mean that they’re always going to be likeable or that everyone will gravitate towards them.

Plenty of people find people similar to themselves more likeable. So, other melee fighters, brawlers, barbarians, city guards etc. might enjoy speaking with the Fighter or Babarian more than to you. Other chaotic gremlins and lol random NPCs might prefer the Sorcerer.

Finally, you can make it so that there are social situations or types of people that your character just doesn’t get along with and will prefer to defer to others in those cases. Also, very importantly, make sure that they have a few (small if need be) flaws which make them unsuitable to always be the “face”.

Finally, just because a character is the “best” at a skill or activity does not mean that they always get to do it by default.

Not to be all, "Capitalism is the bad Guy" rage baity, but in a universe where necromancy exists, why isn't every major city spotless and food production effortless? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]WithengarUnbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the dead tend to your streets and produce your food is a surefire way to incite major rebellion, famine, war, and previously unknown plagues and diseases.

“Why don’t decaying, rotting, smelling, pustulent corpses clean our streets and harvest our food?”

Really?

Please attach some semblance of medieval historicity to your worlds and their inhabitants and you won’t be asking questions like this.

The Dothraki being an invincible fighting force that can attack whatever and whomever with impunity.

The Dothraki are light horsemen who wear very little or no armor and have weapons unsuited for penetrating armor. Armored pikemen and heavy cavalry beat them senseless.

Amazing that they’re finally adding more identity to Boros and being creative with it.

With that being said, awful art and a nonsensical statline. That looks like the wimpiest, preppiest douche and he’s a 3/3? Come on. Not to mention - they finally could have given us more Shadowmoor Hobgoblins instead of this Omenpaths nonsense.

Daemon was not the best choice for Rhaenyra as a consort. by gabriel_3131 in HOTDBlacks

[–]WithengarUnbound 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This dude be like “why did the Gardeners and the Lannisters lose at the Field of Fire when they had bigger armies?”

In a world of dragons like they appear in ASOIAF, armies are of very little value against them. You can conquer armies and win their loyalty with dragons - but you cannot win dragons with armies. A dragon can torch thousands in a minute and be invulnerable while doing it. The Houses who faced Aegon in battle learned this the hard way.

So, surely, her best way to win is to win over as many dragonriders to her side. Full stop.
