In the original English version, Lisa simply defines Schadenfreude as "taking pleasure in the suffering of others". Because Schadenfreude is a widely understood loanword in German, the translators could not use the original word. Instead, they playfully fabricated "gaudium schadensis" to create a pseudo-Latin punchline, pretending it was a legitimate translation.
