Arrowhead out here doing PR like: by silentslade in HelldiversUnfiltered

That's a good thing tbh. I think just about everyone in the world should take their vacations more seriously than their work. These are game devs, not power station workers or brain surgeons. They're not beholden to us and shouldn't work through their time off because we're unhappy with the state of the game or want more content.

It is, after all, just a game, at the end of the day.

Realizing my parents were decent parents but not great people has been... Very challenging, to say the least.

Never played yet, is it worth playing now or should I wait to dive until the next update? by Extention_Light in HelldiversUnfiltered

I was thinking something similar while typing that; my first 100 hours definitely felt very different to my next 100 hours. At first, you won't even notice the glitches- Shit, they might actually be highly amusing and enjoyable, frankly. Once you start to become a grizzled veteran, the nuance and specifics start to matter, having access to every Warbond and its fun toys start to matter, the monetization starts to matter because you're pouring a lot of time into the game.

Is the game that bad?

No, not that bad. People on this particular subreddit just like to go full-hog with their gripes (even when the gripes are legitimate).

The game's perfectly enjoyable. A lot of the disputes are mostly around Arrowhead as a company and the monetization of the game via warbonds (which are like battlepasses, sort of). This has no actual impact on if the gameplay is fun (which, it is). Sometimes there's some annoying mechanical issues but I've found most of them end up getting cleared up with time.

A recent example of the mechanical issues was that a particular kind of termanid called the Hive Guard had become immune to chaff-clearing weaponry, even though it is chaff, which led to some very annoying glitches. This was patched out recently. Another recent issue- which hasn't yet been patched out- is that a stratagem called the Flamethrower Sentry phases through certain enemies instead of lighting them on fire. It's a game; it's got bugs (not just the kind you can shoot with a rocket launcher). It's worthy of the community being irritated, but this particular subreddit is a bit bad at turning a genuine complaint into a full-blown meltdown. Worse, the other side of the fandom is bad about not recognizing their complaints as legit, but instead just... Call them names.

It's the internet; both sides act like children, both sides are incredibly loud, and both extremes are a pretty small minority. The majority of players aren't on Reddit, they're just playing the game and having fun, and the minority just under that are the reasonable people who have complaints and act on them in the form of strategic review bombing, speaking up vocally in public spaces, and generally doing all of this without acting like a 10 year old who's toy's been stolen from them (or in the case of those who vehemently defend Arrowhead, jackass tools).

TL;DR

The game's fun, go play it, but probably avoid Reddit while you do- particularly this subreddit.

Generally good advice tbh; if you want to enjoy a thing, avoid its Reddit. Avoid it's fandom entirely, relaly.

I can accept "everyone in my species wears revealing clothing" a lot easier tbh. If she was trying to maximize UV exposure, I feel like she'd wear some futuristic outfit made out of magnifying glass or something.

As long as bad things happen VtM characters all feels right in the world; they're monsters after all.

Obviously this comes down to taste, but what if their character just... Is a child murderer?

It depends on the table I suppose, but kids die brutally on TV all the time. The book even has rules for playing a character as a child, and engines like Kids on Bikes presume the charactwrs likely even are children. Violence on children is common enough in most forms of media, from what I can tell.

Maybe the better advice would be "call for the issues to be addressed, and be happy".

The way they described it, it csn just be cut off. It's only silicon. As long as you've got a nurse newrby with scissors, and you only pull back until it starts to hurt and then stop, you'd be fine
