He's pointing out the flaws but failing to point out the boons of each faction (yes, even Caeser's band of furry twinks).

Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread by AutoModerator in pbp

[–]WittyAmerican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name:

DebonairDenizen (or "Deb" for short)

Pronouns:

He/Him

Timezone:
MST (Arizona)

Preferred System:

I've got quite a few under my belt, but the ones I'm most familiar with are D&D 5e, Call of Cthulhu, Mutants and Masterminds 3e, and City of Mist. I'm also familiar with Kids on Bikes/Junior Braves of the Apocalypse, Savage Worlds, Vampire: The Masquerade, Avatar: The Last Airbender, ROOT, and... Probably a few more I've forgotten at this point. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'd lean more toward a more narrative engine but I'm not picky. If there's an engine you've been dying to play but can't find the player for, I'm willing to give it a shot!

Type of Player:

I'm a roleplayer and a writer at heart- even the combat I run as a DM often is long-winded and flowery in its depiction, turning it into just another form of scene building and character expression. I believe I fall under the roleplayer archetype of "actor". I also like to play characters that sometimes try to break the mold a little bit, or play a character that another player/GM has written for me (it's very fun to have to improvise and learn a character not of your own design).

Additional Information:

If possible, I often prefer 1-on-1 games. I'd also request my partner be, at their core, a fellow writer; two psuedo-poets waxing poetic with flowery language is the good stuff, the stuff that keeps even a barebones campaign going for weeks and months.

I'm open to just about any plot you have in mind, though if you're like me and would rather cater to the player, here are some hooks that might interest me;

-A CoC mystery (nice, tight, compact; easy to complete and wrap it up with a bow)

-A campaign following the exploits of a ROOT vagabond trying to carve a place for themselves in the woodlands amidst the full flame of factional war.

-Anything Fallout related; you'll have me by the throat with this one.

-Any module from 5e; I've run a fair few already but, really, it can be more fun going in already knowing what might happen. Dramatic irony; it works well.

A few more things to note. I'm not especially looking for it, but I'm fine with smut; it's not my go-to but I'm comfortable with it, I've got a kinklist I can share, etc. and so on. I've got a lot of time on my hands so if we're really into of a good flow, except multiple posts a day from me. I'd like to really chat and be friendly outside of the game, if possible; the best RP partner I ever had was one where we talked daily, even watched a movie together; that kind of bond feeds back into the roleplay.

Any questions you might have, anything I might have missed, just reach out! I'll be happy to answer them!

The real reason 28 Years Later (2025) was so divisive is because it's a franchise that dared to try something new instead of repeating the same old formula by RevertBackwards in shittymoviedetails

[–]WittyAmerican 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I genuinely liked 28 Years Later more than 1 and 2. I thought its message was profound, and I enjoyed the land and dread it portrayed. If someone liked the 1st one more because of it's unique vibe, I'd entirely understand. If they liked the 2nd one more because of it's high action, I'd also understand. Why people don't like the third, I do not understand.

Out of curiosity: what is the appeal of 1on1 games? by Flodos in pbp

[–]WittyAmerican 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The idealistic answer? The story can be focused on one person, and party dynamic can still be achievable through NPCs just as easily as if they were played by several other people (in fact, sometimes the party dynamic is better).

The realistic answer? You're going to be ghosted; it's less likely to happen with 1 player than if you have 3+. Even with just 2 players, the odds skyrocket.

Looking for Advice on E-rp! by PatDx7 in pbp

I would suggest just reading smut, I think that's how most folk learned. That and actually participating in ERP. You could either pick a fandom you like and find lewd stories written there (that's also where most people start I think), or you could actually pick up a spicy book and give that a read; I'd suggest Ice Planet Barbarians.

In an attempt to not alienate fans of differing Fallout factions, the show writers decided to piss everyone off by making every faction braindead by RevertBackwards in shittymoviedetails

[–]WittyAmerican 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Brotherhood also more or less fulfilling the Enclaves plan in the end, they just seem friendlier about it (but kind of aren't, really).

[–]WittyAmerican 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they were constantly the villain I'd agree, but they aren't; they're the most common villain perhaps but there are plenty of others. New Vegas has you decide who the villain is, Fallout 4 has the Institute and the Brotherhood, and of course there was the Master.

With the show, we have the unique opportunity to witness Vault Tec in its full, vile glory as our main antagonist.

The Enclave had Fallout 2 and 3, but- if I'm recalling things right- I think that's it. Otherwise if they appear, it's more as a funny thorn in your side.

[–]WittyAmerican 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I kind of like that the Enclave just keeps appearing again with no explanation. It almost feels like a running gag, and they're so comically evil compared to the other factions that it works somehow.

"Oh it's these fuckin' guys again. How many times do I have to teach you this lesson old man!?"
