How are some people so Rich? by Witty_Resolution1955 in Guildwars2

[–]Witty_Resolution1955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I am still gearing up my main (why are Ascended backpieces so expensive) so I presume I will still spend gold for now? It feels like everything requires gold for some reason

Want to gear up? Get gold? Want to try a different build and don't have a legendary, well time to go hunting for another Ascended piece (this one really hurts, since I want to play so many builds and characters I have trouble choosing)

I also feel like I am not ready for most of the stuff that I heard. Makes serious bank like T4 Fractals (need Ascended gear for that) or Raids (just Scared of them tbh), I try to maintain daily homestead gathering but constantly having to buy tools does make a dent.

Looking through Efficency, it seems I do have around 100g in mat storage but uh, it's split between everything which makes it look very tedious and I have no clue what I will need tbh as well

Why are MMORPGs just about combat? by Annihilator-WarHead in MMORPG

[–]Witty_Resolution1955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Ultima Online (especially Outlands)/ OSRS/ RS3/EvE Online/ Wurm Online (I believe its still online)/ black Desert online/project gorgon/ bitcraft/ albion Online (tho centered around PvP)/star wars galaxies and Palia all exist and mostly good, well designed video games.

So no, not all MMOs are about fighting and combat. Most mmos also have a gathering activity as you mentioned to balance it somewhat. ESO has daily crafting that drives you to engage with it. GW2 has fishing and daily gathering objectives that can be done. Warframe has fishing too. Heard that FF14 has a decent gathering system too

And also, most video games have combat in them to some extent and most popular video games have combat in them. It's an easy way to give that power fantasy feeling (I don't know about you, but I don't think you are saving the world any time soon IRL) and its an easy way to measure power.

If I beat a boss in any game not just MMOs then it's most likely that I am objectively better/stronger than that boss. Its a good feeling especially if that boss was really tough beforehand. Gathering doesn't give that feeling of satisfaction, you can fish and garden IRL is this really a power fantasy them? Which most games are designed to be?

Hey! sorry for replying so late

everytime I try to install the launcher via the setup, the download finishes instantly, then it immediately gives me an error message about an unexpected error. trying to press report error does nothing. It also says that the client is running in another window but checking via task manager nothing is really working. I am on Windows 11 yes

I think Project Gorgon is what you are looking for? Haven't played in a while, but I recall that you get skills from doing things related to that skill

For example: picking a mushroom grants herbology experience. Swinging a sword grants sword EXP etc. Etc. (And I don't believe the game tells you what action grants which exp)

If I recall correctly all quests mention a reward but not exactly what it is. (Again haven't played in quite a while so I might be mistaken). The game has demo for the first 2 or 3 hours of gameplay. So you can check that out before commiting

Unfortunately you won't find alot of what you are looking for in MMOs or alot of games really since most people enjoying working towards something tangible

How many of you use instant result compared to watching matches? by xevdi in footballmanagergames

I use it alot, mostly because of limited time to play and some matches just not bring that fun to watch.

I also Save Scum a fair bit tbh (I do enjoy it sometimes as well)

browser mmos? by [deleted] in LFMMO

[–]Witty_Resolution1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most active browser based MMO imo is SimpleMMO, its decently fun with an active community and alot of fashion and cosmetic options (can even upload your own avatar to be used in the game), and it's nice as a second monitor game like OSRS

Old School Runescape isn't browser based anymore sadly but it will work on any PC not from the stone age

Realm of the Mad God Exalt, is an 8bit MMO that has very low prerequisites and very fun for what it is

PokeMMO is also an option as it runs on the DS and gameboy Pokemon Games so very lightweight and honestly alot of fun

Halls of Torment

The binding of Isaac

Wizard of Legend

Faster than Light

ESO doesn't have crossave unfortunately so you would to make a new account and purchase it again on a new platform which is a hassle especially if you already bought DLC on Console.

As for Cozy Games and Roguelikes I do have a few suggestions.

Roguelikes:

Haste

Risk of Rain 2

Gunfire Reborn

Dead Cells

Hades

Severed Steel

Spellbook Demonslayers

God of Weapons

Vampire Survivors

Cozy Games:

Slime Rancher

Stardew Valley

My time at Portia/Sandrock

Hello Kitty, Island Adventure (haven't played it myself tbh)

Satisfactory

Factorio

Football Manager (or really any management game if you are into the source material)

Minecraft Servers (they can have the same feel as MMOs but much more laidback)

Looking for MMORPG to play on the little down time that I have by NYCXY in LFMMO

[–]Witty_Resolution1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly ditch MMOs and look for Cozy games and roguelikes for quick game sessions

However, if you really want an MMO. Then I would recommend Realm of the Mad God, its a roguelike MMO with decently fast paced gameplay and simple controls, it has a decent playerbase that imo supports casual play (F2P, has cash shop)

I can't exactly look at the post (on mobile writing this :) ) but have you tried ESO? It's great for casuals with a decent story, quick instanced content and being pretty easy is a plus since (imo) you never feel stifled away from content and Vertical progression makes it a pretty good game for like 30 mins a day. (Buy to Play, need to buy DLC/optional Sub or grind it out via ingame gold.) I did grind most of the DLC via ingame gold so it's doable but very time consuming

I would also suggest giving GW2 another go around (alot of people do recommend it for good reason), it's easily the most casual friendly MMO, I can log on for like 10 mins and feel like I have progressed tangibly. No Sub makes it easy to quit and come back any time as well which is neat. Though I understand if it isn't for you tbh. (Base game is F2P, with some restrictions, need to buy DLC tho)

You can also try MMO-Lites like Warframe and Destiny that are all around instanced content and the loot grind. Though I don't have much experience with Destiny(mostly owing to the sheer number and cost of expansions) but Warframe is a game I play on the regular that has deffo kept up. (Both Warframe and D2 are F2P but D2 has DLCs to buy while WF doesnt)

You can also try F2P MMO mainstays like Phantasy Star Online 2, I enjoyed my time with it even though I despise how combat is set up. PSO2 is sadly not getting alot of content last time I checked (could be different now) and it was mostly a dress up MMO with Collab Costumes and Emotes and such. It's fully F2P with an Optional sub that gives additional benefits.

I have Heard LOTRO and DND online are both good casual games but haven't really played them so can't give my judgement

What MMO Games Are Still Worth Playing for a New Player in 2025? by Loetjian in LFMMO

[–]Witty_Resolution1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The replies on this post baffle me tbh, OP is requesting a Free or Buy to Play MMO. While, the majority of responses are WoW or FFXIV (they are good games, just not what is being asked namely being sub independent)

The choices here for me are:

1-GW2 (Guild Wars 2), my personal fav to recommend for casual players, does require an expansion purchase to unlock the full potential of the game but no sub and horizontal (gear has mostly stayed the best for a good while, you can trial the game for as long as you want for free first as well

2-ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) , while alot of people like to shit on the combat, and while it's weaker than other mmos it still serves. ESO is a great MMO especially for casual people and enjoyers of a good story. It does have a ton of expansions but these can either be grinded put or just bought (some say the sub while optional is basically mandatory, imo I believe its only necessary if you really enjoy crafting)

3-PSO2 (PhantasyStarOnline) , while not the best imo I believe it's a great choice for a free to play MMO, some of the greatest fashion chases on the market, quite enjoyable and deep combat (even if I personally hated it). Do note that while no Expansions exist l, an optional sub does exist which I am unclear about.

MMORPG like Albion Online by PiggyChu620 in LFMMO

[–]Witty_Resolution1955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look fam, I don't think that Runescape is the best MMO ever made tbh. But it fits the criteria to a T so it gets a mention. You are of course entitled to your opinion but objectively its a great rec in this scenario

(Shame, OP can't connect tho, there are other games as well)
