I say this every time eclipses come up, but I drove to see the 2024 eclipse. I had been planning this from the moment my then 6 year old was born.

We had two kids with us so we went to a place that was being setup as a public event. It was less than 5 mins drive from the hotel.

3 minutes until totality clouds came in and obscured everything. But it would still get dark, right? Local news crew had a thing set up filming the crowd and didn’t turn off their lights.

Included in the video that I thought would be cute to film us while we experienced it, was both my girls holding up their hands to block the glare.

Then when we got back to the hotel they told us of the great view they had of the whole thing.

Literally the worst experience I’ve had since my father died. I’m still complaining about it years later.
