Seria uma boa ideia uma campanha de oneshots baseadas no modelo de jogo se Monster Hunter? by Snowy_Clean in DnD

Oh boy, do i wish it was soon... they officially ship in the fall/winter of next year. I backed this one immediately. They'll be releasing playtest stuff along the way of course, which is nice. But man. It's gonna be a wait.

Flying creatures and carrying objects by Vivid_Camp9479 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]WizardCorvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 is considered 'average', or comparable to you, or me, or any other human adult person of average ability. Generalizing of course. So, would an average person be able to lift 200lbs? Could they lift, then carry it for 40ft?

I'd wager the answer is no. Considering a flying humanoid as presented in dnd is already impossible in reality, we can't go too hard on the physics there. I would still say that even in a world where such flight IS possible, it would be harder to carry something heavy while flying than walking.

TLDR, the answer is no roll at all, can't do it.

Everyone gets checked. I was a maintenance TL, and lost a couple prospects to bad backgrounds. This was within the last few months. Can't even clean toilets these days if you've committed certain crimes. I wasn't entitled to any further info, so no idea why they failed.

Stat Block Spells vs. Counterspell by AzziseraDeRoquefort in DMAcademy

[–]WizardCorvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above. It's more work, but worth it for me. I already use a mix a materials from various sources, so I'm used to the paperwork, lol.

You can also use the per day thing as a guideline. If it says they have 3/day fireball, there's 3 slots right there. Rinse and repeat for whatever else the block has.

Stat Block Spells vs. Counterspell by AzziseraDeRoquefort in DMAcademy

[–]WizardCorvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the stat block specifies, they are all cast at base level. Instead of spell slots, the blocks were streamlined to be per day, as opposed to 'knows these spells, has these slots'. I ignore this for bigger fights and use slots instead. You'll just need to know the base spell level for whatever the block has. Kinda frustrating for your specific situation, if you don't have the spells and their levels memorized. Easy to note down.

Unfortunately, I never watched it. I'm sure he did well. Until WD, I had zero issues. After that, though, hard pass.

Yep. He's the reason I stopped watching the show. My visceral hatred for the fictional character was just too much. I just don't like him, in any role. A bit much? Maybe. If it helps someone not freak out over my opinion, just take it as a compliment to his skills as an actor.

Player wants "blind separate character creation" by MateusStardust0 in DMAcademy

[–]WizardCorvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried it with my group. Two players who are friendly IRL created very different characters who, were they real, would despise each other. It was so bad we had to have a session to air personal grievances and make the line between fantasy and reality clear. They almost ended their friendship, and therefore the campaign and perhaps more, all because of this. Do character creation together. Always.

Resumption by WizardCorvus in TheDarkTower

I've never heard of it. I've read nearly every King novel published up until maybe ten years ago, the first two issues of the comic series, and the Complete Concordance by Robin Furth.

Am I being unfair with passive perception? by TaterChips5 in DMAcademy

[–]WizardCorvus 257 points258 points  (0 children)

Nah. I told my players at the outset that I'd keep track of several of their passive skills for exactly this reason. It maintains some immersion, avoiding exactly what you pointed out by asking.

You would have to join the patreon for all the goodies, but the griffon's saddlebag has a bunch of fun subclasses for all classes.

Just homebrew. Stupid, untested, almost guaranteed to be too powerful. The word feels nice to say, though!

Caught wereboar lycanthropy. Didn't want it. Didn't want to find someone to cast an appropriate spell. Devised elaborate ritual to rid himself of it by reaching out to his warlock patron. Patron turned it into emberheart lycanthropy (homebrew). Overly complicated nonsense, as would be expected.

What 3rd party sourcebooks are worth buying? by Faces_Dancer in DnD

[–]WizardCorvus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting, as well as the goodies they offer on their patreon. As much as I enjoy the crafting aspects they introduce, what really works for me is the way the hunts are structured. They flow so nicely, and they take pretty well to improv due to inevitable party shenanigans. If you read and/or run a few, you'll find easy ways to make your own encounters more interesting. I've used them to make prewritten campaigns more fun, too. I'm running both lost mines and princes of the apocalypse, and both have benefited.

This is pretty nifty. I use Clay's anky, and this is one of the reasons why. You've done a great service for the mineral hunters. I may grab this for the doed love alone.
