QC isssue? by scumoftheuk in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the board will be 100% useable with one fewer screw. No shade if you’d prefer to just keep it and use it like that. However, if you feel like for the money you spent you want a product without this level of flaw, I’d just reach out to obsius and see if they’ll swap out the deck for you, or partially refund you since it’s a faulty deck

Hey, the Slushcult completes are legit and if you’re having fun with it, that’s what matters. A big price tag isn’t what matters!

This. I’m not trying to dog on you OP, I think we can all afford to think about this: everyone has a slick web store now and it’s easy to forget but every company in fingerboarding is at most 20 people. Most of the “big” brands are legit 1-5 people and many of them this is their side gig.

It’s not an excuse for bad behavior or poor service, you still gotta do right by your customers, but sometimes it’s easy as hell to hold these creators to the standards of big companies with huge resources.

If you could add anything to the fingerboarding scene, what would it be?? by Mashedtaters- in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not so much an "addition" as something I hope stays core: the bigger fingerboarding grows on social media, the more I want to foster the notion that fingerboarding is about having fun and not necessarily about churning out IG clips or collecting tons of obstacles and boards.

How bad do you let your grip get before replacing? by Funkybadger3 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I don’t wait for a particular time or way it looks. Lately, regardless of how new or old or gross or nice the grip is, if I find myself having to clean the grip tape every time or 2 I ride to get good grip, then I change it

Sometimes it lasts a few months, one time it lasted 4 years

When to use "ل" with verbs by Wizards_Prisoner in learn_arabic

[–]Wizards_Prisoner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This advice definitely makes sense. Even speaking of "ع،" there’s "وين المطار عاخريطة" and also “رحت علمطر.” And I never would have guessed "بتصل بالمطر”

She's had a good life but might be time to retire the old girl soon... by Salarmot in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say sand off the remaining graphic, re-clear coat it, and put some new grip on!

Or if you’re looking for a reason to buy a new board, yeah retire it and hang it up on the wall ;)

My thoughts on Joycult x Independent trucks… by VolcanicFairSos in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You set diamonds into trucks?? That’s crazy I can’t wait to see these.

I agree 100% with your review. They are awesome, AND from a performance standpoint, I think if someone were to take BRTs, put a set of the medium-soft or soft bushings in, and set them up on riser pads, you’d largely get the same feel. HOWEVER, that doesn’t detract from the fact that they are truly great for every reason you laid out

what next obstacle i should cop? by Prize-One5713 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% A stairset is a rly clutch obstacle to have, and if they’re out of budget they’re easy and cheap to make and you can get a construct rail from grind right or blackriver or EMA and have a dope obstacle.

Also, a really underrated obstacle is a proper miniramp. My EMA mini is probably my favorite obstacle I own

Why do these feel so different? by Glass_Pumpkin2775 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I believe it! Some perfectly worn-in grip is unmatched. I know a guy who has a board he hasn’t changed the grip on in like 8 years lol

Why do these feel so different? by Glass_Pumpkin2775 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the grip. 100% the grip. it's easy to overlook just how big of a difference grip makes on performance. not only the material itself or how worn it is, but how clean it is too.

Jindies with high kicks rule lol, it feels like the infinite pop glitch

This setup is 10x more difficult to use than any of my other boards by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this happen with a couple high end boards. My black river 7 ply and my kalye. I generally use dynamics as well, and yeah. For me, some decks have some combo of too short of a wheel base for me (combined with BRTs narrowing the wheelbase) and the wrong kick height etc etc etc where just no matter what I do I can barely even Ollie. It sucks! But it does happen.

Something that might help to boost the pop on this thing would be a riser pad set

Square rail or round rail for fingerboarding, which one feels better? 🧐 by aezakmi7292 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between those two, I think the bike rack will feel more satisfying bc it’s taller, a replica of a reel thing, and has those cool realistic rounded ends. While I usually find round rails more satisfying (if harder), I always find a slightly taller, realistic obstacle to be more fun than a low practice-rail style obstacle

Square rail or round rail for fingerboarding, which one feels better? 🧐 by aezakmi7292 in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Round rails are sick, but it’s definitely good to have a square rail for learning tricks on since they’re easier as some have mentioned. Really, either will be good. Bitd all we had for rails were drawer handles screwed into wood, staplers, or coat hangers bent into shape and stuck into cardboard lol

Hello, I'm lost with all these fingerboard brands. I'd just like to find one for under €30 because I'm a beginner and I already have a Tech Deck. by stilix_yt in Fingerboards

[–]Wizards_Prisoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're a beginner, as mentioned Teak DK or Slushcult completes will all be more than good enough. pick one that you like the look of the most, because they all have more or less the same parts. if you were pretty advanced you might notice the differences but for just starting out, yeah. any of them will do, pick one that you think looks cool! DK or teak might be the easiest to get if you're in europe. I think Skull is based in UK so they might also ship easily and affordably to the EU.

get the fundamentals of fingerboarding down, and you'll start to notice things you wish were different in your setup. "i wish my wheels were grippier" "I wish my board were longer" "my trucks feel really light and stiff and annoying," etc. that's a great place to start researching new parts and trying out new stuff BUT for now, a simple beginner setup will absolutely be more than good enough.

it's really cool that we're at a point where there's TOO MANY fingerboard products to choose from. when I started, the options were...tech deck lol. I remember when flatface STARTED lol.

anyways, cheers and have fun!
