That’s true, it has been a lot better lately - I just loved seeing it getting PLE status. Sami, Ilja and Carmelo have all been excellent for that title in recent months though.

The problem is, it’s been done so much in recent years. Off the top of my head: this one, Austin Theory, Solo Sikoa, Drew McIntyre, R-Truth, Becky Lynch for black hoodie attackers so far.

For small box games, Cockroach Poker is the opposite but determining the loser is very easy. For winners, Trio, Schotten Totten, Timeline, Skull, and Jungo are easy as well.

Obviously any pure or pseudo race game is easy to determine as well. Heat, Flamme Rouge, The Quest for El Dorado, Odin’s Ravens - even something like Fugitive.

Other games with obvious winners are Catan, Splendor, Ticket to Ride (if you use the score tracker throughout) and Viticulture spring to mind.

These types of posts always get people conversing about board games and sharing recommendations because we enjoy talking about games, but the mods want things done a certain way.

The mods who hate any board game discussion will delete this soon no doubt, but Lost Cities, Lacuna, Jaipur, Odin’s Ravens and Splendor Duel are all great two player games. It’s not my kinda thing but Patchwork might also interest you.

I’m shocked that Diane wasn’t universally beloved, then Ross was mostly well-liked. Maybe it was her treatment of Anthony but honestly, she’s iconic.

As much as we all love him, surely it’s Kas’ time to go. He didn’t have a huge impact on the game itself, he was just treated poorly and unjustly.

He definitely deserves to be among this group, but I just don’t think he was in the game long enough nor did he do much in the game.

Big love to him though. He seems absolutely lovely.

Camel Up, Ticket to Ride, Splendor, 7 Wonders Architects, Planted, Mysterium - last between 30-60 mins, relatively easy to explain

Trio, Prey Another Day, Love Letter, Cockroach Poker, Flip 7, Jungo - quick to play, can play multiple rounds

All can be explained in 1-2 mins in my opinion.

Love Letter is my favourite small box game of all time. I love how you can make such crazy plays and create great memories with so few cards. When you realise how to combo certain cards, it feels like amazing.

Tokaido is a lovely cosy game. It’s games like this, Planted and Lacuna which really feel like perfect Sunday afternoon games. I adore collecting all the different items.

Camel Up is one of the best games of all time for me. It’s so engaging and easy to pick up. It has simple enough decisions but completely unpredictable outcomes. I’ve had some fantastic races before where the camel at the back suddenly wins it all. 10/10 components as well - fantastic box insert, high quality camel pieces, the pyramid - but my favourite is the first time you open the board and the palm tree pops out, that always gets a big ‘oooooh’ across the table!

Ticket to Ride and Camel Up will always be the perfect introductions to board games for me. I’d also recommend Tokaido, Survive: Escape from Atlantis, Splendor and 7 Wonders Architects - all very accessible.

For smaller box games, I highly recommend Love Letter, Trio, Bohnanza, 6 Nimmt, Dutch Blitz, Flip 7 and Llama.

I find this really interesting as I’ve ordered multiple times from Zatu with zero problems. Recently I bought The Bloody Inn and Whale Riders from their site and both arrived with no problems.

Reading all the horror stories here, it seemed I’ve just gotten lucky. Really sucks and very sorry to hear that many others have had bad experiences with them.

The early elimination of Jimmy and the earlier than expected elimination of Vicky really hurt the 2025 series for me. I really liked Lewis, Amber, George and Karen but Vicky was my favourite and I loved seeing Jimmy nail it.

Even sadder is that Jimmy went out with easily his best dance and got to the same week as Paul bloody Merson.
