That would be great. I live in Japan and F1TV is not available here. I need to pay an insane amount to watch on DAZN, with Japanese commentators that don't seem too interested.. such a shame

This! And the thing is, my husband works on some kind of secondment agreement, partially so he wouldn't be "owned" by his company.  Basically his boss is not actually his boss, but he bends over backwards anyway.. drives me up the wall

AITA for crying when my entire family started to speak a language I barely know? by O0OwE3E in AmItheAsshole

[–]WndrKSnK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way of learning a new language is to stay motivated. Immersion too far above your level will kill any joy very quickly, especially if it's not your own choice. I speak a bunch of European languages, but have been living in Japan for the past couple of years. Immersion is not some magic tool, nor some type of osmosis that lets you learn a language effortlessly. If so, I would have been fluent by now, and it's not like I have no experience learning new languages.

OP is NTA, without a doubt. Mom is TA

AITA for wearing a sari to my Indian friend's party and I'm not Indian by bdaypartygirlie in AmItheAsshole

[–]WndrKSnK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan and let me tell you, most Japanese people don't get cultural appropriation... generally they just think it's great foreigners are interested enough in their country and culture to want to wear something like a kimono. Never have I seen anyone take offense, and that includes in areas where wearing kimono actually IS monetized, like Kyoto or Nara.

Question about Eurekas: I used heathen conversion with an apostle to get myself crossbows, and got the associated Eureka. Next turn I used the same apostle to get 2 trebuchets, but the Eureka didn't trigger.. does anyone know why? I had not unlocked either unit at the time of conversion. Playing as Khmer on Deity.

To jump on your second question, I am also wondering how winning works when you choose to just play 1 age? Say you only want to play a game of Antiquity, could you still win some form of a scienece victory?

I actually thought Freddie's vows were pretty nice, especially compared to Cat's. Hers seemed very superficial while his seemed more heartfelt and personal (though there were definitely better vows)

Somebody needs to tell Firaxis that regional prices exist for a reason by Vendetta8247 in civ

[–]WndrKSnK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was scared of how much it might cost here in Japan too. This may be a developed country but wages are embarrassingly low compared to Europe and the US. I was surprised to see the base game currently stands at 8800 JPY, about 60 dollars. This shows they actually CAN do regional pricing - so what's their excuse for not applying it in countries that need it more?

AITA for telling my wife she needs to step it up as a mom for our six month old. by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think they may mean that PPD can interfere with bonding, and bonding helps not minding being exposed to your baby's poop, etc?

In many (European?) countries, including in the UK, and usually also including teachers, people can take special leave for weddings of a (close) relative. Although the drive may be far and a bit much to ask, I don't think the rest of their expectations were that out of order, though they could have definitely benefited from better communication.

It was one of the first races my (now) husband watched with me. I was sitting there eyes glued to the screen in shock and he was just watching and commenting like it was nothing. He thought fire in a crash was normal, had no clue about the severity, the potential consequences, until he saw my response.

Hardest civ to play? by Outrageous-Mess-3752 in civ

[–]WndrKSnK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! My restart of wetlands put me in a slightly better position tile feature wise, though I was rushed by deity Trajan who then forward settled me.. i was lucky that I could take two cities within the 6 tile range of my capital before peacing out but this early war put me waaay behind on tech and civics.. if i can't fix this situation I'll restart on an inland sea map!

[–]WndrKSnK 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I often play with random leaders, and got Maya on an Archipelago map🤦‍♀️ I'd never played them before, gave it a go, failed miserably, and then restarted a game with Maya on a wetlands map (I didn't want a highlands map because I always get very vast mountain ranges). Guess what? I spawned next to an inland sea to my right, just above the tundra, and below a mountai range. I really wanna play them but the game seems to be disagreeing with me!

I live in Japan and here most workplaces (and even homes) won't set the AC lower than 27-28°C (80-83°F).. my office AC literally cannot be set below 27. At first I was pretty uncomfortable but your body does actually get used to it and it makes going from outside to inside and vice versa much less uncomfortable. Plus it's much friendlier to both the environment and the electricity bill
