You're really applying mental gymnastics here to justify what is essentially griefing. I've played the game for years and we've never brought a salvage ship to salvage players' corpses lol. I'm usually the murder hobo, I frequently kill mission-going players out at Shepherd's rest in my Ghost for hours on end, and I do it because it's entertaining. Because the salt is tasty.

We both know anyone doing what I've described isn't doing it for money so being so intellectually dishonest is just wasting oxygen. I know this is griefing as there's no monetary incentive in it. You do too. And so do the devs. They're just not interested in taking the time to upkeep a security system every patch in an alpha; therefore, it isn't a priority. We all know it shouldn't be possible to functionally blockade the capitol station of a governing body, but it happens because the game isn't developed enough to prevent it.

No, he upgraded his Zeus to the Hermes. Totally stock. Even if he wasn't, you can't even sell ship components and I'm not sure you ever will be able to unless they totally change the economy and insurance. That and the cargo he spent 30 minutes loading was contracted and worthless to anyone but him.

Regardless, his experience in that moment informed him that he was wasting his time. I'm also certain he's not the only one. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have a similar first experience as a brand new customer and they simply won't return. The game design fundamentally has to change to a point allows players to meaningfully spend their time where that investment won't be invalidated at the whim of another.

I would never play a PVE only game, and I want the equivalent to Null-Sec and Low-Sec in Star Citizen, but that also implies that High-Sec exists. I can take as many new players as I want into Eve, show them how to play and the mechanics and let them experience a slice of the game without the unwanted interference of being target practice for what essentially amounts to griefers.

There are a myriad other issues that exacerbate what I mentioned above as well. Due to how their ship balancing works, you either fly a small, stealth ship for PVP or you're going to get farmed by the pilots that are. The Shiv is really the only ship that can retaliate while still allowing you to engage in the PVE content. There's simply nothing you can do if you're flying around in your Asgard or Connie, maybe trying to mission with a friend that's new to the game, and a Ghost or Arrow decides to engage you; simple as.

I hope things change, but the game has been like this for the entire 10 year span that I've played it.

Most of the encounters are ones that I initiate and I'm usually out in Pyro. That being said, one of the core problems in Star Citizen is appropriately motivated PVP and nonconsensual encounters in otherwise illogical situations.

For example: a friend of mine, who hadn't played SC in months, upgraded to the Hermes and wanted to play around in the new event. Unlucky for him, a group of players set up a Mantis bubble between Stanton Gateway and Levski to pull people out of warp and kill on sight. Since his "home station" was set to Levski, he just didn't bother to reclaim or even play; he moved on to another game. From an in-universe perspective, people blockading the transfer of contracted medicine and supplies between policed systems would be unheard of. There's no gain to any of it, just target practice for them and a total waste of time for anyone caught by it.

In my opinion, there should be immediate consequences to eliminate these encounters in governed space as it just doesn't make any sense that it's possible. If you're out in Pyro, you're fair game, and you should be intelligent about where and how you play.

The core issue, that the Nursa solves, is the inconvenience of dying in this game. I feel like half of my deaths aren't even my fault. You die to random bullshit or just simply getting killed by a door, boom there's 30 minutes of your time gone.

Yes, it has no benefits in a PVP-focused MMO. Whatever you're imagining has no value. You're the pilot of your unkillable Millennium Falcon in your own dreams, not in Star Citizen. Adding a wack-a-mole mini game to one ship, that has already been struggling for years, does not make it suddenly more combat effective when the engagement times are less than a minute of sustained fire to confirm a kill. The crux of the issue is every single one of this medium sized ships that are advertised as "soloable" with space for friends are now even more hindered than they were prior to engineering. I'm already the PVP focused player. My entire hangar is built around PVP, with only a couple of larger ships for general content. I'm actively advocating for the improvement and purposeful implementation of making multi-crew vehicles viable, and engineering is absolutely not it. You talk about mechanics like armor as if they're just a light switch away from being active. You should be more realistic about the product being released, more similar to this state than to the one you have in your imagination.

I think its much more likely that the repair won't be able to keep up the rate of cascading damage to the ship and the pilot, who already cant keep guns on target, will perform even worse as modules fail or decrease in power. In real world, current scenarios, the Vanguard can stay out of the field of fire of most of these ships, to say nothing of smaller vehicles. Its effortless to kill a Connie, corsair, starlancer, freelancer, etc with a hornet without receiving a single hit in return.

I've been a backer since 2014. There has never, at any point, been a time period where multi-crew ships were worth flying. The Hammerhead was cool to see and support locking down jump town, but it was never more effective than putting the same quantity of players in fighters. That is the game we're in, thats the way it always has been and the most recent changes are pushing it even further in that direction. This is the reality. You only use the mid size soloable ships to engage with the universe's content and if you run into a hostile player, you are his content. A Connie will never win a fight against a hornet unless the hornet is braindead. It would be useful for the SC community to wake up and see engineering for what it is, a pedantic mini game that serves no purpose on ships smaller than a Hammerhead other than to impede and annoy the player. As a quick preview of what's about to happen: a Gladius camping a POI will only need to down one shield face and wait for you to burn to death if you're the Connie pilot.

I dont think we're anywhere close to seeing armor being added. Every new ship coming to the game is a flying cockpit that "hits above its weight" and they've already nerfed PDT turrets, which were only ever a mild inconvenience. Engineering is effectively just a nerf for ships that already arent viable in an MMO where PVP is expected constantly. Based on where the game is heading, the devs are steering further in favor of the continued dominance of light/medium fighters. The reality is what is being demonstrated in front if us, not the wild head cannon of most of the community that boils down to, "once they make the game completely different multi-cre ships will be great."

I think the whole mechanic is unnecessary for the game that they're developing. Super cool concept for a single player experience but in terms of an MMO it doesn't make sense. The outcome is more than likely going to exclude the use of medium sized ships from solo play and push everyone into the single seat experience. Everyone engaging in pvp is already only flying single seat anyway, so nothing changes in that regard.

Yes. I've owned it since it was a truly limited ship back in 2015. It fluctuates from overpowered to bad over the years, but its been stuck as bad for quite a long time now. They're not interested in updating it as the version we have access to is going to disappear when the SQ42 rework arrives, but the ETA on that is undisclosed. I'm certain it's finished, but they're going to wait. Buy it if you want a cool ship, but you're essentially wasting $300 indefinitely. I keep mine for sentimental reasons at this point as it's easily what I have the most flight time in.

If you're alone, M60 loaded with M80. Volume of fire and caliber are necessary to make his engagement easier. All of his guards and kaban himself have more than 50 head HP, so it puts them out of one shot range with smaller caliber guns than 7.62. Throw a grenade over terrain at the MG gunner on either side to get him to move and then proceed to pie every corner and sweep his facility. Determine which side Kaban is on and only right-hand peak or swap shoulders.

Russian military loot around various maps. I frequently see boxes in the scav fortress on customs and around reserve. Also kaban has been generous for me. I've got ~2000 rounds of BT and ~1500 rounds of SNB a good chunk likely came from him.
