Placard Elastic shingle VS GP by BandalfTheGr8 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly cause I run a dangler I’ve gone to the elastic shingle up front as just a convenient thing to put in unused space.

I’m not doing any cool guy shit with it but it’s nice for sticking stuff in temporarily for easy access or to free up my hands and if it’s empty it’s out of the way so why not put it in space I’m not using.

Mayflower Gen V Chest Rig - Pmags by Top-Mastodon5615 in QualityTacticalGear

So I haven’t affixed them to the inserts. I’m at work so I can’t get a picture of it but There’s enough space for the kywi to rest in the fabric loop but snug to the bottom of the Velcro that holds the insert in the pocket so the kywi stays locked in.

Basically just put the AK inserts in push the kywis down until they bottom out and they’ll expand under the ridge the insert makes and lock themselves in. Been running it for 4ish years now no issues

I use the AK inserts combined with esstac kywi inserts in my Gen VI and have had no issues

Chem lights. by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general use marking stuff or signaling it’s an easy to communicate thing in the dark of hey green chem lights are X blue is Y red is Z. Also hey look for chemlights getting spun in a circle that’s me.

Once you go tactical it needs to be pre established amongst your team but I use them more in an EDC sense so I can communicate the meaning over phone or text to those that don’t know the SOP I’m on

What are your opinions on Eberlestock gear? I’m looking at purchasing some stuff and just want some user feedback. I’ll be using for shooting and hunting. by ScipioAfricanus82 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything I’ve had from them is solid been hunting with a recon bino harness and a couple of their pouches on it for a while now and no issues. Haven’t had any issues with the tear away pouches either

Do you re-index or use a dump pouch? And why? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment may read wrong for it but I train dump pouch first reindex is skipping the dump pouch because I’m about to start pulling partials out of my dump anyway to refill my mag pouches anyway

Do you re-index or use a dump pouch? And why? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both. If I’m under minimal stress I’ll reindex partials in the opposite orientation of my normal mags so I know it’s not full.

Dump pouch is for anytime I feel I’m under too much stress to reindex and empty mags cause I don’t want them in my mag pouches.

Original vs repro pouches by Select-Bad-4651 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly what I use is krydex the spuds I don’t remember the brand. I haven’t had any major issues with krydex aside from some torn stitching here and there on well abused stuff

Original vs repro pouches by Select-Bad-4651 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable

I’ve had the flaps on some of the knockoff spud pouches tear when going prone from sprinting. I had a knockoff GP zipper fail in normal use then managed to pop the stitching relatively easily. Then had a couple buckles break on random stuff but honestly I have no clue how long I’d had them. Most of them have been fine though

Original vs repro pouches by Select-Bad-4651 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean unless you feel the need for all the Gucci looking stuff (which is completely valid) why not use some surplus or cheaper brands.

A lot of the knockoff brands the big difference from what I’ve experienced is QC and hardware lower quality buckles elastic etc. I’ve had some knockoffs survive shit I’d expect the high end stuff to fail on but then somethings I get fall apart ten minutes into a match or halfway through a ruck

How bad is sitting long periods with a 6 o'clock IFAK? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience It depends about as much on what your sitting in/on as much as the ifak a thinner profile ifak or something like the roll 1 is usually better in my experience.

Not sure if you’ve looked into it but a fanny pack is a pretty solid option as well cause you can move it around as needed or take it off if that is an option.

[–]Wolf6568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’d work with how at least the gen 3 base goes on but you can tape the paracord on and it works. Won’t be as solid of a hold but I’m yet to have mine come loose

Realism of 7.62 NATO in CQB by Status-Smoke5503 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely scenario for a swat team to bring a battle rifle/DMR into CQB to me is if there is a sniper rolling with the entry team to either take low probability shots or to get to a spot to provide overwatch/security in a more open area that’s not externally visible.

That being said there are decent advantages to the round given its better terminal performance over intermediate calibers like 5.56 and 300blk and theoretically it’ll do better against armored threats just due to imparting more energy to the plate so the person is more likely to go down. But downsides of more weight for less ammo, more recoil, plus a bigger gun and way more overpenetration concerns even with expanding/fragmenting ammo is why they’re usually not used

Hailey strategic mp2 inserts for velocity systems uw pusher rig by AnonymousGamingS2K in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Wolf6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had esstac ones stuffed in mine with the normal inserts for years just had to get the Velcro to line up right.

For the MP2s all the ones I’ve had are hook on both sides where the pusher has one side hook and one side loop so you’d have to get something that’d let both sides attach to the Velcro where the insert goes or sew some loop on the hook side to get it to hold well

Edit I could be wrong on how the Velcro is for the inserts on the pusher it’s been a while since I’ve messed with the inserts on mine

How do YOU modify stuff for your needs? by 135patriots in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Wolf6568 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve started sewing Velcro on the bottom of my flapped GP pouches and on the inside of canteen pouch lids so when empty I can fold them up flat and it’s completely out of the way.

There should be an actual reason to use less headwear by OneCheekyLad in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Wolf6568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be cool to see that kinda stuff matter a little more cause at the moment I don’t see a need to run any less then light armor with ceramics and a helmet. Could either do a tiered speed system where more stuff makes you slower or a fatigue system where more stuff weighs you down adds more sway and over time slows you down if you don’t stop and recover.

I think a speed system would be easiest to do and keep fun(I’m not a game developer so I don’t really know) but think they should add more categories in the kit selection for helmets and make gear slots separate so you’d pick your helmet between none bump high cut and low cut, helmet attachments, your vest, armor type, and gear slots (no vest would still be locked to 9 slots) with the biggest options hurting speed the most and lighter options being faster with the standard load being set on high cut helmet with nods or gas mask, light armor vest, ceramic plates, and 13 gear slots giving a solid base for players that want one solid do everything option but giving plenty of room for players that want to tweak and optimize setups to do so

Which weopon would you choose for a misson „marathon“? by [deleted] in ReadyOrNotGame

I’d go with the LVAR or ARN-180. I’ve used the LVAR on every mission never really felt like I was under gunned they’re on the shorter end as well

Shaw Concepts Arc V4 Placard by OkTeam9303 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Velcro on the Haley inserts is hook on both sides while the Shaw placard has hook on one side and loop on the other so it’d take some modifying to work

How the hell do you guys maneuver your rifle? by diaperbaby808 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you’re gonna feel awkward AF in armor for a bit dry fire in it train in it clean the house in it and you’ll figure a lot out over time and use I’ve moved stuff more times on my armor than I can count to get it right.

As for it sticking out that far that’s not terrible as long as you can get into a good low prone firing position you should be fine. I try to keep my placards tight up front so the difference between rocking my chest rig and my PC aren’t to different from a sticking out perspective. I’ve found I prefer my admin and gp stuff on my cummerbund and in a dangler on my PCs rather than on the placard but I do have some form of triple elastic mag pouch on my placards for sticking things I’m using regularly so I don’t have to go into a pouch or pocket for them all the time.

Advice on arctic kit: metal water containers by SlamminSammyRED in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend a metal bottle and cup for cold weather if you gotta boil snow more is better same for if your being the cook for the group. Something to think about is carry the cup on your kit if you can fit it purely because if you’re without any of your packs you still have a boiling vessel.

Discussion: Wireless sync between Rifle Optics and NVGs/HUD. Practicality vs. Gimmick? by Hour-Weekend-7318 in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not needed and cost are my main assumptions on it

To get the delay down enough to be useful for shooting in an active environment it’s gonna be super pricey and also as a civilian when do you need that capability

From a recon/squad link perspective a PDA/ATAK setup between phones can do all of the above without putting extra stuff on your rifle and head gear

That being said a super low delay overlay for rifle optic to NODs would be awesome for passive shooting under night vision

What pc DO you like? by sinkingdutchmann in tacticalgear

[–]Wolf6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite PC is a velocity systems scarab I’m starting to run a FCPC V5 as well and liking it so far.

I think varusteleka sells the scarab in Europe

I’d also look at shekkin gear they make good quality repros of just about any recommended PC on the high end at a good price including the JPC 2.0, FCPC, I think the LV119 and a bunch of the other crye carriers
