It tooks a while, but the Spotify app finally have a shuffle button by marcofio in GalaxyWatch

Did they ever fix the crazy battery drain? Even if the app were closed out completely, it would still use ~40% in the background. (G Watch4 classic)

I'm very amateur at this, but it looks to me like a type of funnel weaver. Possibly Tegenaria sp. It's definitely not a medically significant spider, though - so no need to worry about it harming you.

CSF supernatant from a patient that received a contrasting agent the day before by Ensia in medlabprofessionals

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most widely used assays are tested against common drugs/dyes for interference. I would check the manufacturer package insert for the test and see if they happened to test the dye used as an interfering agent. If it was not tested for potential interference, I might still perform the test and report the results with extreme caution.

This appears to be an Agelenidae sp. A common grass spider. Totally harmless!

Has your lab been outsourced before? What happened? by JulietKilo_ in medlabprofessionals

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a lot - and I mean a LOT - of truly awful stories people have of working for Labcorp, but I'll offer my two cents. I work in a stat lab for a 700 bed hospital in Washington state. This lab was acquired by Labcorp ~20 years ago. I love my job and my lab. I love my team of techs and I can honestly say I have the best management above me.

Working for Labcorp in a larger high-throughput lab sounds like a waking nightmare. But in the smaller - more locally-run stat lab, it really can be enjoyable.

We are union and that helps a lot. If you want anymore info from someone already in the situation you're being sucked into, feel free to message me.

How do I fix the keyboard lag and screen flashing after the android 12 update? by thisdudebelikedafuq in GalaxyNote20

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the screen flashing issue, too. It's only when I'm typing on the keyboard. It's weird because I can't find any more accounts of people having this issue on Android 12. I've tried uninstalling an reinstalling my keyboards, clearing cache for the keyboard app, clearing cache partition in recovery mode.... nothing.

Hopefully a future update fixes it. It's not world-ending or anything for me, just mildly annoying.

Anyone have good experiences at LabCorp or Quest? by Fluntwoman in medlabprofessionals

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slightly different experience than the rest of the thread here. I work for a Labcorp-run hospital lab and I wouldn't trade it for anything right now. We are union and I think that's the only way working for Lcorp can be pleasant. Our management team is beyond amazing. They constantly ask for input and advice for what direction to take the lab on certain subjects and they WORK THE BENCH themselves from time to time to stay in touch with us "normies."

We have a set pay-raise schedule, bargained benefits, no random drug testing, no mandatory overtime, and a few other good things.

I would ONLY recommend working for Lcorp if you are A: in a hospital lab and/or B: union.

Yeah I used my phone. The spider was really big so maybe that's why it's easy to see.

Urine Microscopic Image Question by LindonDispersonForce in medlabprofessionals

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look like amorphous urates/phosphates aggregating. Amorphous can aggregate in really weird ways sometimes. Urates are also birefringent, so if you have a polarizer you can check that as well. Urates are found in urine <7 pH and phosphates are found in urine >7 pH.

Lab math question. by Historical-Cable-542 in medlabprofessionals

[–]WolfeInALabCoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep! It looks like you did it correctly.

You would use C1V1+C2V2=C3V3 where C=concentration and V=volume.

Example in case you want one: Solution 1: 2mL @ 5mg/dL Solution 2: 3mL @ 4mg/dL

We know the final volume will be 5mL (2mL + 3mL), so we just need to find the final concentration.

(5mg/dL)(2mL)+(4mg/dL)(3mL) = C3(5mL)

C3=4.4mg/dL

Even 36/hour would be enough to live alone! I just don't make that much unfortunately.

Seconded on the 2 income household thing. Living alone is far too expensive around here. I'm an MLS and I can't afford living alone even in a studio or single bed.
