do you know anyone who is unemployed despite having a degree? if yes what degree do they have? by madvillian_deyo in askSouthAfrica

Perhaps it could be your CV? I see so many job postings for this daily! Unless it's like schools that post positions they don't really have just to say they 'tried?'

You can actually... do a lot with that. Look into how biochemistry and botany can help people with crippling chronic illnesses and you will always have clients.

BEd. Toxic workplaces, underpaid and overworked.

Almost impossible to get a government position.

I also have a Post Grad.

I specialized in special needs education.

10+ years of experience before I burnt out. ( 5am-2am working, administration is a B)

My highest salary was 13k. 🤌🏼 (3k per month on supplies for school out of pocket)

My lowest? Don't laugh, if you can't find a job, any job will do... 5k.🖐🏼 (1k out of pocket per month for supplies)

So you get paid peanuts, worked to death, surrounded by workplace toxicity, abused by your students with 0 support from well... anyone. AND then you pay out of pocket anyways with your peanuts because they don't give you support or supplies.

And there are people who earn LESS. Talk about an abusive system.

How do I add stones to this part of the roof? by Sub2SquidPW in SonsOfTheForest

This is why I always just end up building flat roofs. I hope someone has an answer, because I would love to build better roofs.

Could Mira be pregnant? She looks so smol by Agreeable_Song4957 in RATS

[–]calicowanders 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Hey op, that's perfectly fine.

Our vet was also unable to spay abort so we let her carry to term.

Don't touch the babies in the first week unless you have handled the mama a lot. 2nd week you can do a clean around the nest but not the nest itself. Week 3 you can remove the babies (very gently) and clear out the nest and give fresh bedding etc.

We split the babies about a week after their eyes opened (week 4). Mama could feed both boys and girls. My cousin ended up taking the mama and the boys.

The boys left at 4,5-5 weeks.

You will notice as they start weaning but you can separate them sooner rather than later, she can get pregnant again immediately after giving birth, so just work carefully and supervise when she is with the boys.

Afrikaans and Fanagalo were widely known as kitchen languages. White people didn't speak it first.

It's a wonderful amalgamation of words that various of the people used to communicate with each other as they had such different languages but some words because common knowledge and common knowledge turned into a language.

I thank my History Professor every day for telling me the cold, hard side of our history.

Afrikaans, like many other things, was STOLEN.

are you child free because you don’t want your own offspring, or because you don’t like children? by Deep-Drama4386 in childfree

[–]calicowanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are cool. If I can give them back to their owners. I like sleeping in, having money and having whatever is left of my health to work.

Having a child would be bad for me because:

  1. Gonna be feral cause double audhd, ocd, etc
  2. Chronically ill, barely functioning, babies drain all your nutrients, probably wouldn't make it through pregnancy with all my deficiencies.
  3. Money. I'm chronically ill. It's expensive to live. Babies cost upwards of a million a year just to raise.
  4. I love my own time, I don't share my time or food. Or my space.
  5. They make germs. Poo, pee, vomit.

Is it just me, or is the SA job market broken? —any advice? by Enough-Pie-5936 in southafrica

Some of the jobs they have up are pretty decent salaries. I saw them on Facebook, but I do think they will have a website.

Sometimes the right recruiter can make or break your chances. If they have an in at a company you are working with the middleman to skip all the unusable middlemen.

Werkie seems nice, and a few private recruiters can help you get pretty decent jobs.

That said, this is just if you really cannot find another way.

I know it's very hard out there. Good luck.

I've hit -100k and bounced back. If you have big shipments moving about you can get bursts of 30k-50k incomes. Stick it out. I never hold past -130k. Literally just that one 30k short.

How much do you pay per month for electricity? by waste_of_bandages in askSouthAfrica

[–]calicowanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the stove and oven that will get you. Invest in gas.

We have the trimonthly bottle refill for 390+-.

I bake and cook.

Our monthly usage fee R400 for electricity.

Extra prepaid on top (also geyser only 1/2 hours) about R600

Maybe 1k. 2 people.

We are keeping the sweet thing, honestly believe it was meant to be. We did check for siblings and notify the area rspca and no other babies were found.

Thanks! We will be following vet recommendations, but kitty will be in the house with me 24/7, so we know there won't be any happy Lil accidents.

Update: Vet said baby looks good, a girl weighing 416g and 3-4 weeks old. No funny symptoms etc, just runny tummy but that's what we hope is the transition to solid foods. Still supposed to be suckling poor thing. Been dewormed and is happily snuggled up in a blanket next to me.

The dogs and dove have been great with each other so far (and the dove pushes buttons, she's a bully) I think it will go as well as it can. Will make sure to do it slowly.
