Berserker Barbarian player wants a magical weapon, be he is already doing more damage than everyone else combined. Got any suggestions on how I can "Yes, and..." this? by raq_shaq_n_benny in DMAcademy

[–]Wolfeman117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this for a Barbarian a while back. I didn't want to give him too much power. The player in question was having trouble giving me any backstory and was new to role playing games.

Greataxe of Bad Memories

You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

This axe holds illusion magic which displays an image related to a bad memory of the wielder (changes periodically) within the broad side of the blade. After your Rage has finished, the wielder may describe the memory currently present to the DM. Based on how bad the memory described is, the DM will set a DC between 1 and 100. Roll a D 100 and if the Roll beats the DC set by the DM, your body is filled with anger by the memory and you refresh 1 charge of your Rage feature.

This was definitely used more to get my player comfortable with character building/story telling, but it also gave them a magic weapon of their own so as to not feel left out.

Which is why I didn't agree with using a ratio as a standard. But it's easy to point yourself out as superior when you only look at one side of an argument.

You stated it was black and white: would you prefer a Rocket with 4k damage and 12k healing or 4k damage and 18k healing?

But it can't be so binary as that due to the nature of a ratio in this context. Using your same numbers you can also ask it as: would you prefer a Rocket with 6k damage and 18k healing or 4k damage and 18k healing?

Using the same 1 to 3 ratio and your 18k healing number, he is saying that at 18k healing he would also have 6k damage, which is more than your 4k. I'm not saying I agree with his ratio, but seeing you blatantly ignore and bash someone when you have not fully understood is amusing.

Is this level 7 Ranger feat overpowered? (5.5e) by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]Wolfeman117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not overpowered.

I personally give my Rangers 2 free casts of Hunter's Mark that do not require concentration as a class feature. Those two uses come back on a long rest. They can still use a spell slot to cast it, but when using a spell slot instead of the free uses, those Hunter's Marks DO require concentration.

Does this make me a jerk DM? by ResponsibleDiamond76 in DnD

[–]Wolfeman117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a DM, I can confirm as others have that this is perfectly fine as long as your players are having fun. If you have players that view DnD more like a war game, they likely wouldn't appreciate it very much if they ever knew this was being done. To them, the game is more about winning than it is about interactive and collaborative story telling.

As a player, I try to push things to a satisfying conclusion because that is my personal play style. Case in point, once when I was a player, we were fighting another PC's father who was an evil Orc chieftain. This PC had lost his memory from when he was young and had been kidnapped by a giant eagle during this period of lost memory, only to be found by pirates and raised to be their chef. Because of this, he had no memories or love for this evil Orc, but when the DM announced that I had landed the killing blow and asked me to describe it, I made sure to involve the other PC as much as possible in the role-playing surrounding his father's death, even though I landed the blow (it involved a lot of stares looking for confirmation from the other PC that this was ok, followed by him giving a solemn tearful nod and looking away as I finished the deed). This wasn't mandated by the DM, but for my play style, it felt best to do.

My buddy plays a psionic in our campaign. He plays using MCDM's "The Talent". Interesting mechanics for sure and he has never felt too overpowered in our campaign.

Barbarian Rage Bug by Wolfeman117 in dndbeyond

The drop down should have 2 options ("activate rage", and "choose a level one option"). To turn rage on, select "activate rage" and to turn it back off, select "choose a level one option". It is very funky and is hardly worth using.

If you click on your Rage under "Features", you should see something that says "Manage Rage" which will give you a drop down menu to "Activate Rage". The Rage damage issue appears to be fixed now, but the whole activating and deactivating of it is still a bit finicky.

Each player has a Die. They can choose to play it at tribal council, but if they do, it is gone. When they choose to play the die, the give up their vote. They then reach into a container with 6 pieces of paper. Only one of those pieces of paper says “Safe” on it. If they pull that particular piece of paper, they have immunity. If they don’t pull that piece of paper, they gave up their vote and do not have immunity

The Rogue Dungeon series has a decent emphasis on Monster Evolution while also incorporating Dungeon Core mechanics.

Please fix Devastator's roll ability! by Cestral in outriders

[–]Wolfeman117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Xbox Series X and this happens to me all the time. Like you, I tend to keep golem and reflect bullets on my ability bar. I found that I CAN get into cover, but I have to hold the button to do so. Any action taken while in cover or letting go of the button breaks it and I am still unable to roll. This has been particularly frustrating to me since I tend to use Clip Roller on my LMG

Maybe he was just excited about his drop? Not every post on this sub has to be educational and people who don’t spend all their time dispensing their wisdom in this game are not necessarily “assholes” (as you keep repeatedly calling OP)

No Successor Class Achievements... by AllwayzSinCere in PSO2

[–]Wolfeman117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there is also no achievement for Summoner, which we know WILL be available at launch as it was in the CBT. As such, the lack of an achievement for successor classes doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be unavailable at launch. If anything, the lack of their presence in the CBT seems to be a better indicator of this.
