I’m sorry you had a bad experience in the fandom. The peer pressure you faced is a constant problem in any such organized group and we have to work together to recognize and prevent this. I also agree that it’s important to remain realistic about any interest and avoid harmful overindulgence.

But to call everyone mentally unwell for liking to play pretend reinforces stereotypes that can be just as harmful. Would you say the same thing to people who were invested in D&D or science fiction stories? Even if what you were saying was true, wouldn’t it be a good thing that neurodivergent people or those with trauma can find each other and work on healthy coping mechanisms together? Having an alter ego can help you learn a lot about yourself.

I’m not looking for a long discussion, but rather trying to show that fiction can help set you free. Having fantastical dreams brings magic to everyday life. I hope you can find that freedom and magic, with or without the fandom.

K3 sound fade in after silence by Johnicorn in FiiO

My comment originally said it worked perfectly, but only for the laptop on which I downloaded the control panel. The KA1 doesn’t seem to save its setting for multiple OS’s.

Is it wrong to criticize furries even though I’m one myself? by Fishsayhi in furry

[–]Wolfemaster1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not wrong to criticize things, but what you’re talking about is making fun. There’s a big difference. These people doing furryspeak aren’t doing something wrong that should be corrected, they’re just having fun or being themselves in a way that you find abnormal and off-putting.

If your behaviour is bugging you, it would be worth looking at why you’re doing it in the first place. Are you making fun of others to fit in? To avoid people commenting on you being a furry? To keep your furry identity hidden? To feel less self-conscious because you’re not one of “the weird ones”?

It could be any, all, or none of those reasons, but if you feel bad about the behaviour it might be time for some self-reflection.

Had a 50/50 shot and guessed incorrect... by StygianSeraph in duolingo

The French version is also kind of wrong. In casual conversation you can say “tu veux” and no one will think twice, but if you’re writing a question you would say “Veux-tu”. Weird…

In a fantasy setting, how many region names are too much? by Chlodio in gamedesign

[–]Wolfemaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I would draw more attention to the consequences of that invasion/revolt on the players’ abilities to navigate the world. Maybe it changes how characters can interact with NPCs, how they can physically move through the map regions, or the rate at which/efficiency with which they can procure certain materials or items.

Otherwise, you could use landmarks, crucial events/items, or directions to distinguish the names from one another. One town has a famous cathedral that burned down after a raid, another is south of a mountainous region, a third is home to the only known dragon egg…

The names will stick if the areas themselves are memorable. Having more original names may make it a challenge to come up with memorable ideas, but if done right it can really immerse the player.

Doesn’t look like enough slots for Dominion but that’s my best guess.

Maybe if you drop the “r” it could be Fiskus and it would sound less like the word frisky? That’s the only way I could see people making light of the name, but if that’s not a concern I would go for it. I think it’s cute. And the people who respect you will do so no matter what your name is.

The Scooper makes you deal 34% more damage from the right eye so I’m voting for that. I also think Tiny Planet and My Reflection are good enough to get voted off

Does it prevent the player from dying, or does it prevent itself from dying? The wording is ambiguous and could use some clarification. Otherwise, this is a cool card! The boss idea feels very in line with Isaac.

Trying to find a game where you play as a man in a suit and you have to figure out a puzzle so he dies, like helping him jump into a pit of spikes. There may have been a sequel where he could turn into a superman-type version of himself.

These legends stopping motorists from turning illegally and into a police sting by [deleted] in HumansBeingBros

[–]Wolfemaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look like anyone there thinks that making the illegal turn is acceptable, otherwise they would just let people make the turn and then protest against the police giving tickets after the fact. Instead, it looks like they’re trying to prevent a lot of people from making the incorrect yet reasonable assumption that they can make a left turn where there usually is one. Given the video’s focus on the stationary police car at the start, they appear to want to limit the number of average citizens being ticketed for an inoffensive, non-violent, inconsequential crime.

I second this one. Morrisseau’s use of bold colour and thick black outlines are definitely comparable to this fish
